Opening Doors: Conversations with Derby Employers

As part of our Opening Doors offer, supporting workplaces to help reduce the the amount of young people not in education, employment or training(NEET), we are filming discussions with local businesses and organisations that currently have young people either on a placement, apprenticeship or in employment.

We’re filming authentic conversation, not a swish film production.
Our first workplace was the fabulous Headway Derby with their wonderful CEO, Emma. This was special as Joe has a Traumatic Brain Injury and Headway have been a constant, important part of his ongoing recovery.

Joe was whole school Careers Lead and a post 16 teacher in a special school,prior to him not being able to teach, and getting young people into the workplace was one of his passions. His whole curriculum was based around Preparing for Adulthood and the Gadsby Benchmarks.

So this whole project is very close to both our hearts. The films will not be produced commercially but Joe will be editing them, and we film them together.

I look forward to sharing the films, once they are ready. 🤩

🚶‍♀️INTRODUCING PROJECT 90!

Following the huge success of our Snowdon Project and Tour de Headway Derby, we're ecstatic to announce our next challenge... Project 90!

But why 90? 🤔 Because every 90 seconds, someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with a head injury.

We are inviting our members and supporters to get involved! Over two days, we're coming together to complete a 90km relay to raise awareness of brain injury and vital funds for Headway Derby 🧠

It is a relay, so you can do as much or as little as you like. No matter your ability, there is a place for you in Project 90 💜
