Wild Woman Creates Womens Circles & womens pysche workshops in Edinburgh, Scotland. New Moon & Full Moon circles in-person and online. No particular path or belief system required.

Safe and sacred space for women, inclusive, open to all 18yrs+ women (cis & trans). Wild Woman Creates is series of offerings to community for women and our trans sisters to gather in the sacred space of circle to explore our own inner wisdom and resources for self nourishment, deep wisdom and self acceptance. I am based in Edinburgh Scotland but many of my circles are online so you can join in from anywhere! I also offer Womens/womxns workshops based around hand crafting and exploration of our life transitions, and a regular Wisdom Weavers Circle for exploring our elderwoman years through the Wise Woman archetype. These are entirely my own creation born from my own menopause journey, the gathering of years, and my desire for conscious eldering as we reclaim, rediscover and reinvent ourselves. All crones. Junior crones and wannabe crones so very welcome! All my circles and workshops are informed by natural sciences, folklore, nature connection, handcrafting, ecotherapy, eco-feminism, poetry, personal ritual and more. I hold a diploma in Human Givens brief psychotherapy (currently training for my practitioners licence) and whilst womens circles are not therapy you can be confident that whatever I offer has that safe container of mental health awareness, ethics and respect around it. I believe that in circle we can experience and remember a more human way of being together, a place to uncover our own gifts and resources as we gather around hearth. Hearth is where we are accepted, honoured and empowered to be truly, deeply, unapologetically, authentically ourselves at any stage in our life. Shoulder to shoulder, hands at each other’s backs; we are all born gifted and our gifts are needed in this world! We are all sisters in circle, cis, trans, gay straight, non binary, as long as you are over 18yrs I’d be delighted and honoured if you would join me! with wild woman howls & wise woman blessings,

Returning to the centre…

Gathering the years is a returning to the centre of who we are and what we stand for, its part gradual spiralling in from all the years of being out there in the world trying on different versions and roles…and part sudden leaps, stepping over paths wound in one go as in the transition from menarche, or a significant life change. It’s an invitation….a chance to uncover the gold, the ripened fruit, the wise seeds we may have missed.

“If as you age you become more still, you will discover that stillness can be a great companion. The fragments of your life will have time to unify, and the places where your Soul-shelter is wounded or broken will have time to knit and heal. You will be able to return to yourself. In this stillness, you will engage your Soul.
Many people miss out on themselves completely as they journey through life. They know others, they know places, they know skills, they know their work, but tragically, they do not know themselves at all. Aging can be a lovely time of ripening when you actually meet Yourself, indeed maybe for the first time.” (John O’Donohue)

A wall of tiredness has caught up with me and so rather than push through and plough on and then collapsing (know that one? 😘) I am consciously resting today and seeking some gentle inspiration with a little fox and berry magic for the season. If like me you need to take moment, remember your hard work (in whatever form that takes, and it will look different from day to day and month to month) is never wasted, let it do its job of ripening while you have a cuppa and enjoy some rest for the mind and body.

The card reads….

A woman’s journey through life has many chapters, different trails, some well defined to follow, some that require pathfinding. Some landscapes define the journey, some inspire it, and some are metaphors for it. Sacred crafting to mark the journey form a textile biography and as I gather the years I find myself grateful for taking the time to honour personal bio-geography.

The desert may be encountered as a time of trials, a stripping to the bone in the harsh scouring winds, a profound solitude and deep self discovery. Deserts are places of great wisdom and beauty, the sound of the wind over dunes, the calls of hawks hunting along the ancient cliffs, guinea fowl in dry gorges and weaver birds in the thorn trees, the barking of geckos at night. They do not give up secrets to the casual observer, their truths are not for everyone, the very dryness takes a price with every breath.

My homelands are soaked with new rain but I can take myself back there, to the deep orange sand and endless wind in a heartbeat.

Another bright berry ripening as Autumn begins her journey through the land. A truly wonderful little tree with much folklore and folkmagic to her name, to herbalists a source of heart, blood and vein tonics and medicines, I owe her a debt myself. Another ally for the wise woman and friend in the wild. I am cheered by her berries even as the first of her leaves turn yellow, I may beg a few from my own tree for a small charm for the desk altar.

Full moon offering…..although there was thick fog over the land last night for the partial lunar eclipse, and the sky is still hidden today this sunflower glows with the soft radiance of late summer, its dark centre of seeds like a moons face covered by the Earths shadow, yellow petals a corona of splendour. Feeling grateful for the soft rain falling. Focusing on the simple pleasures this full moon after a long hot summer. If you have projects ending at this time, remember to celebrate and if you have a ways to go, rest for a moment and look back along the paths you have travelled.

When the blooms have faded I’ll offer the seed heads to the birds as thanks for their songs.

The centre of the circle…

This is where we find ourselves again and again, returning to our own true natures, leaning in, listening, tuning in. Coming home to ourselves in heart centred community.

“Once a woman can tune in to the different parts of herself and can listen, observe, or feel her differing priorities and competing loyalties, she can then sort them out and measure their importance to her. She then can make conscious choices: when conflicts arise, she decides what priorities to place above others, and what course of action she will take. As a result, her decisions resolve inner conflicts instead of instigating internal wars.”

The red thread of feminine magic in a bright berry ripening, …..a sign of approaching autumn in the Eurasian northern hemisphere.

Rowan berries are an invitation to notice the changing season, to watch for thrushes who always know when the berries are perfectly ripe, to beg a few berries for an amulet or a small amount of home made bitter sweet jelly.

There are many stories about this tree’s qualities for instance against witch craft in auld Scots folklore, ancient powers of protection reinterpreted by Christianised societies, but originally perhaps against malicious spirits and fae folk and well known to wise women for its medicinal properties. Across the sea in Norse mythology the Rowan is a solar symbol, sacred to Thor who was rescued from a fast torrent by her branches and consequently a protection against lightening strikes; and depending on translation may be the tree from which human woman was created. A small tree much prized for its strong wood, for amulets, decorative items, and walking

“How fair wert thou in simmer time,
Wi’ a’ thy clusters white,
How rich and gay thy autumn dress,
Wi’ berries red and bright.”

- Lady Nairne (1766-1845)

Returning to the centre….

Across the high places the heather blooms in purple profusion moors and mountain a signal for our return, to ourselves, our homelands our adopted homelands. We start to reorient ourselves, turning northwards embracing the lengthening nights, praying for cooling rains for the northern hemisphere. The path home under our feet feels familiar as we draw near, dipping once again into the valleys of our homelands. Hunting the still green threads of rivers, looking and listening for the gathering place of our sisters.

Some of us may be a long way from home, still crossing what seems like an endless desert of shifting or a black burned landscape. Out in the arid landscapes of pain, grief, & loss is a hidden fold of time in which a mythic women’s tent sits, where the relentless scouring of hot winds and sand does not reach, where we can rest and lay our heads down in sweet smelling spiced air and sisterhood.

A women’s tent, a women’s circle, any gathering of women anywhere where we can into the soft eyes of our sisters and feel ourselves returning to a place of heart, compassion and kindness. In their most authentic form women’s circles are places out of time, extra-ordinary, radically allowing, inclusive.

The centre of the circle…

Finding one velvet topped bolete under the trees with its flaming orange and yellow underside I started seeing more and more. Spread in broad and wobbly circles around the feet of limetrees. A perfect metaphor for the below the surface connection of women who gather, a mycelium spreading outward, interwoven with other beings, who offer something of themselves for each relationship and then when the time is ripe burst out into glorious, amazing, unique forms. I stand entranced and realise the work continues unseen under my feet all around me.

Women can know themselves through rewilding the keen soul, relearning and reclaiming our wolfish natures inspired by the insights of Dr E with which I have worked for *er hem, quite a while but as many of us weave back into the stories of the land, quietly mending perhaps we are also fungal, mycelial, magical, mysterious.

The centre of the circle….

In a reconstructed Iron Age round house visitors gather around the hearth. Not simply because there are tasty little hand ground flour sour dough flat breads with a little yarrow and sea salt butter on offer but I believe we feel an ancient folk memory pull. Fire and food it stirs something, a warm summer’s day in the fire lit dusk of the hut the embers draw us closer, a gathering, voices softer, faces turned to the flames, strangers forming a circle who for a few moments become as a tribe, at its centre the hearth.
