🏳️🌈 FINAL CALL – SUPPORT FOR LGBT VETERANS 🎖️
Were you affected by the historic ban on LGBT people serving in HM Armed Forces?
Between 1967 and 2000, LGBT personnel were prohibited from serving openly in the Armed Forces. Many people experienced careers being cut short, harassment, investigations and other serious mistreatment as a result.
The Ministry of Defence is encouraging anyone affected to come forward before the current recognition schemes close.
💷 Financial Recognition Scheme
Eligible veterans may be able to apply for payments of up to £70,000, depending on their experiences.
🎖️ Non-Financial Restorative Measures
Those affected may also be able to apply for measures including:
• The return of their beret
• Removal of dishonour from administrative discharges
• A service ceremony where restorative measures are formally presented
📅 Applications close: 12 December 2026
More than 1,700 veterans have already applied for Financial Recognition, but there may be many more people who are eligible and do not realise that this support applies to them.
You may not consider yourself a veteran, or you may have had little contact with the Armed Forces since leaving — you could still be eligible.
Please help us spread the word by sharing this post with friends, family and your community. It could reach someone who deserves recognition for what they experienced.
