Ok so there are some big changes in my family life up ahead so making some alterations to my working life in line with this in the coming months and hence writing this post to keep you all updated.

Triskelle will be taking less Adhd local assessments for a few years after my slots are full for June 2026. I will redirect people to the services below once my slots are full a few months in advance.

I will still be offering some autism assessments for adolescents and adults after that at least until I see how things go. This change is because I will be looking after my lovely grandson two days a week so will be reducing my working hours for a few years anyway. Who knows after that!

Meanwhile other local options for ADHD assessment and diagnosis on island are -;

There’s a new service called Thrive health in Onchan that is advertising adult adhd assessment (but I confess I don’t know much about them at all or how good they are I’m afraid).

I will continue to prescribe for my open clients, and possibly take some new treatment cases but my slots will be fewer hence the need to do this.

I’m really looking forward to spending more time with my beautiful grandson so I hope folk understand that something has to give ! I have also so enjoyed working offering lots of local assessments and I’m certainly not saying I will never do so again but for now I have to boundary my work more.

‼️The Regulation of Health & Social Care Bill – What It Means for Our Island ‼️

The Isle of Man Government is proposing a new law that will force all complementary and alternative health practitioners - and many other small, caring businesses - to pay thousands in fees just to keep working.

⚠️ Proposed Costs:

• £1,060–£1,270 registration fee

• £320–£635 annual renewal

This is 6–10 times higher than in the UK:

• Manchester City Council: £175 one-off registration

• Leeds City Council: £120 one-off, no annual fee

• Liverpool City Council: £150 one-off, no annual fee

• Birmingham City Council: £165 one-off, no annual fee

Why are small Manx businesses being asked to pay so much more?

⚖️ Equality Issue

The sectors most affected - complementary therapy, nurseries, domiciliary care, aesthetics, beauty - are predominantly female-led businesses.

These high fees risk creating indirect discrimination against women in business, which must be taken seriously under equality law.

🔎 Auditing Concerns

The Bill allows for audits to be carried out by staff with no knowledge of our various modalities, despite many practitioners having 20–30+ years’ experience.

We demand clarity on auditing criteria and assurance that experts in each field will be consulted.

💰 Reality Check

• We already pay National Insurance and taxes.

• We already pay professional body fees.

• We already pay insurance fees.

• Complementary therapies are not a high-wealth industry.

👉 Adding thousands more in government fees will force many small businesses to close.

Complementary and wellbeing services provide huge benefits to our Island community:

Losing these services would mean fewer options for people struggling with stress, anxiety, pain, and life’s challenges - at a time when mainstream health services are already overstretched.

We are asking the Isle of Man Government to:

1. Scrap or significantly reduce the proposed fees.

2. If we are to have fees, align with UK models (one-off fees of £120–£175, no annual renewal).

3. Ensure audits are led by real subject matter experts in our individual fields.

4. Recognise the existing professional and insurance safeguards already in place.

5. Conduct a full Equality Impact Assessment before imposing fees.

Let's look at ableism.

From a neurodiversity perspective, ableism is the oppression and discrimination of those outside the neuromajority (neurotypical). Neurodivergents are constantly fighting through ableism in many forms; active, passive, systemic, lateral, internalised...

Neurodivergent children experience ableism from a young age and much of these negative messages are what set us up as traumatised adults.

It's not uncommon to hear these things being said either to parents of a neurodivergent child, or to the child themselves.

It needs to stop.
