On saturday our Nature Buddies had fun making grass head trolls, then had a very busy harvesting session! They picked purple sugar snap peas, tomatoes, a massive marrow, and even pulled up some shallots!

In the afternoon, they did some nature weaving, and made signs for the plant beds, and also constructed a bench out of pallets for our new craft table!

Yesterday's Nature Buddies, made paper plate owls, did some weeding and harvested some big cabbage leaves to take home! Its safe to say that everyone will be having cabbage for breakfast, lunch, and dinner🤣
In the afternoon, they got creative with some pipe cleaners, and helped to build a new crafting bench for all our future sessions❤️
They also thinned out the carrot seeds, and took a tray of excess seedlings down to the park along with some pots for people to take and grow at home!
A massive THANK YOU goes to Pete for volunteering his time and expertise to mentor the boys on how to safely construct the craft table and another big THANKS to Sal and Penny for helping to strim the garden, path and around Breathing Space during the session break to keep it looking nice ❤️❤️

And just like that, another term and school year has ended! We spent our last week enjoying each other's company, finishing off projects, tidying ready for September and making memories to carry with us into the summer holidays 🌞 We also reviewed the progress of all learners and said goodbye to those who won't be returning to us in September. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our youngsters for being such fab humans and for all their hard work, commitment, trust and growth. You're all incredible and should be immensely proud of yourselves 😊 We hope you have a fabulous summer ☀️ 🥳

The last few days in Primary AP have been filled with animals, farm machinery, free play, problem solving, team work, care and maintenance of our sites, reaping the rewards of hard work, trying new foods, cooking, tending to the crops in the garden, and creating clay bird baths to be enjoyed by our feathered friends. We've had lots of change and unpredictability this week and the kids coped with it incredibly, working together to ensure our animals were kept safe and didn't become too unsettled by the events taking place 🚜 Everyone, across the week, demonstrated great perseverance to complete every task they were given. It was fantastic to see them supporting one another, learning new skills, and taking pride in what they achieved 😊

This week the Nature Buddies observed how everything had had a sudden growth spurt from the sunny week! Flowers bloomed and vegetables growing! We made recycled bird boxes/feeders, and planted beetroot seeds, and even harvested some chard! In the afternoon, we also made bird boxes, and then we planted mixed radish seedlings in our tall planters! And added organic matter to nourish the soil, and also learned abput pollination to imprive crop yield and production for a better harvest later on!

Today we visited Sandwell Valley to do some orienteering 🧐 We found out we weren't too good at following a map but certainly enjoyed the beauty around us 🌳🏵🐝 Once again, it was the older members of the team that enjoyed playing on the park the most! 🤣

A round up of this week's provsions: Bitesize spent time creating some nature based stick dolls, following their time ensuring our poultry were cool and content. Our Secondary group learnt all about the history of Shugborough Hall, made some new animals friends and enjoyed time spent with each other 😊 Our Primary groups spent most of their time trying to keep cool in this heatwave 🥵 Something that involved lots of shade and plenty of water drinking! We visited Wyre Forest to take part in the Room on the Broom trail, followed by an ice-cream. On Thursday we focused on keeping the animals comfortable and content, with Friday's group doing lots of mindfulness within the community garden and down my Bagpool. Well done all of you for following our safety guidelines and helping everyone stay safe and hydrated 💧 🥳🥰
