When inside our smoke filled container, your senses are impacted in various ways, closely simulating the conditions of a real life fire situation.
While theory knowledge is really important, the practical experience provides a better insight.
Here’s how each of your senses can be affected in a fire:
🔥Vision
With smoke, visibility is greatly reduced making it challenging to see your surroundings.
🔥Hearing
The presence of smoke and the confined space can muffle sounds, making it harder to hear clearly. You will have to rely on cues such as voices or structural noises.
🔥Smell
Prolonged exposure can dull your sense of smell temporarily, teaching you to rely on other senses and tools to detect hazards.
🔥Touch
In low visibility conditions, you'll rely more on your sense of touch to navigate and identify objects simulating real life scenarios.
🔥Taste
Inhaling smoke can leave a bitter taste in your mouth, making the experience uncomfortable. This shows why wearing proper respiratory protection is so important.
