Funeral industry Regulation

Recent events reported in Hull and the sentencing of a Hull funeral director to 20 years in prison for the mistreatment of deceased remains, have understandably caused many families to question the standards of care they should expect from a funeral director. Like so many others, we are deeply shocked and saddened by what has happened, and our thoughts remain with everyone affected.

At Dereck Marshall & Sons Funeral Directors, we believe every family deserves complete confidence that their loved one will be cared for with dignity, respect and compassion at every stage.

As a family-run funeral business, we are committed to providing the highest standards of professional care and personal service. Dereck and Gary are both qualified Funeral Directors and Simon is a Qualified Embalmer, ensuring that every person entrusted to our care receives the highest standards of professional care and attention. We are strong advocates that both owners and those employed within a funeral business should have formal qualifications within the funeral industry.

We are members of both the British Institute of Funeral Directors and the British Institute of Embalmers which means we have guidelines and a code of ethics which we adhere to.

110 years from the Battle of the Somme 🌺

At dawn on 1 July 1916, they climbed from the trenches and into one of the bloodiest battles in British military history.

Today 110 years later, we remember not just those who fell on the first day, but every soldier who fought at the Somme.

They were sons, Brothers, Fathers and friends and all from a generation of men that always answered the call to defend our country.

We are proud and honoured that our great uncle Private George Marshall (Service No. 13551) served with the 9th Battalion, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers he was killed in action on first day of the Battle of the Somme. He was 21 years old from Legane Aughnacloy.

We owe them all a debt of gratitude.

“At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them”

🌺 Lest We Forget.
