What an incredible few days.

As we close the 1st North American NVR Conference, we are filled with gratitude, inspiration, and hope for what comes next.

Over the course of the conference, we brought together an extraordinary group of practitioners, clinicians, educators, researchers, caregivers, and leaders from around the world. Together, we explored new ideas, shared practical knowledge, challenged assumptions, and strengthened our collective commitment to supporting children, youth, and families through the principles of Nonviolent Resistance.

The depth of expertise, generosity of our speakers, and engagement of our participants made this event far more than a conference. It became a gathering of minds and hearts united by a shared belief that there is another way—one rooted in presence, connection, dignity, and hope.

This conference marks an important milestone for NVR in North America, but it is only the beginning.

We leave energized and inspired to continue growing this movement, expanding access to NVR training and support, and building a stronger community of practitioners across North America and beyond.

Thank you to every speaker, attendee, volunteer, and partner who helped make this event possible. We are honoured to be part of this journey with you.

Here's to the future of NVR.

When Peter Jakob first introduced NVR to the UK in 2001, he quickly saw that it had to speak directly to the deep trauma created by abuse, disadvantage and social injustice. In this plenary at the 1st North American NVR Conference, he will show how trauma-focused NVR restores caring dialogue between caregivers and children, helps adults develop quiet strength in the face of their own trauma, and turns the wider network into a genuinely caring community.

Drawing on his book Trauma-Focused Practice in Nonviolent Resistance, Peter will share concrete methods and examples of what this looks and feels like in real-life practice, including his current work with adolescents and adults resisting the impact of past abuse.

Join us at the 1st North American NVR Conference to explore how NVR can transform trauma work in families, foster care, and residential settings.
