Connecting the World as 1 in living with Type 1. League of Diabetes (LOD) is a platform of the DiAthlete charity registered 1190 263 in England & Wales.

LOD supports a global collaboration of type 1 diabetes patient activists & organisations who develop initiatives to make diabetes education more relatable & empowering around the world. LOD hosts an 'LOD Global' network of likeminded Type 1 diabetes organisations & groups, who share sociable and recreational approaches to diabetes education. LOD further engages in producing adult Type 1 diabetes c

amps & paediatric diabetes workshops in events, while sharing peer experiences and awareness through online content in 'DiAviews.'

It takes courage to sign up to something a bit different 💙 Camp Phoenix is for adults living with - starting on the eve of Friday 11 Sept for 2 nights until 1pm Sunday 13th 🇬🇧

Join us in woodlands of Aldershot 🌳 for an impactful, recreational weekend that brings people of all age groups and experiences together through sharing type one diabetes in common 💙

Registration deadline is 5th September with limited spaces. We hope to see you at the campfire 🔥 as we look to make the diabetes talk connect ✌️
The charity work to keep the costs affordable for all, covering over 60% of the total registration costs per person to help supply meals, accommodation and activities that we hope leave a lasting boost in your journey.

A previous camper said it was like the hug they never knew they needed and we couldn’t agree more!!! Some of the best conversations happen when you least expect them 💙🔥🏕️

Whether it’s over breakfast, during an activity or around the campfire, Camp Phoenix is full of moments where you can connect with people who truly understand life with type 1 diabetes.

No explaining. No feeling different. Just genuine conversations, plenty of laughs and friendships that last long after the weekend ends. 🤭💙

We are looking forward to hosting our 7th camp - which first started in 2019 - and of course the enriching conversations around the fire is always a special part of the weekend 💙

T1D Festival is on in Greenwich this Sunday 💙🎉 and heading down the runway during the Fashion Show section of the event is super Ava Ava Hope 🌟

Setting the vibe for the T1D Festival, Ava shares in advance 💬 “keep pushing on, even if times are tough. Grow through what you go through and stay strong because diabetes doesn’t stop you from achieving your goals in life.”

Ava’s mum, Lindsey, who will also be with us on Sunday added: “This journey of ours is never linear. Motherhood & caregiving are in some respects intrinsically linked; with little pockets of similarities between them both;however being a mother and caregiver are also very different in the sense of the differing challenges they all present. Yet we deal with them so gracefully.

Be accepting of life’s griefs as well as life’s triumphs. I nurture my eldest when her condition makes things difficult. I see her in her grief; I also make sure we celebrate the good days with gusto! Being accepting and recognising moments of both grief and gratitude is to me the very foundation of being a medical mum.

If you can love yourself in your darkest moments as well as in your brightest; then you’re all kinds of great.” 💙💙💙
