Why even think about becoming a funeral celebrant. Let me explain...

11/04/2026

It's spring. And despite the cost of living crisis, despite all that is going on in the Middle East, despite everything that could make each and every one of us despair, I look at the wonderful way nature renews itself, feel the soft breezes and see the emergence of bluebells and feel...optimism. And, as many research projects have shown, optimism is actually good for you. I know this for a fact.

As a funeral celebrant, I've noticed over many years that in spring and summer, there are fewer funerals than in the depths of winter and it's impossible not to reach the conclusion that 'hope' does help to keep people alive.

My next training course for funeral celebrants is in May...and if the thought of this career appeals to you, if you have any questions, if you wish to know more, if you feel that £600 to launch you on a new career is affordable, please look at lastwordtraining.co.uk and give me a call. I'd love to tell you more. In the meantime, I'll take the dogs for a walk in the spring sunshine...

I am a funeral celebrant. My place of work is full of flowers and memories. It's where people go to share their love, to comfort and support each other and to say goodbye to a time gone by, when the person who is now missing from their lives was a living, breathing, laughing part of their family. Some will have travelled from the other side of the globe for this brief moment of farewell. Others will have come from close by. All will look to you to make this occasion a time of healing and acceptance; a brief interlude before life goes on and gets back to a new normal. It's a privilege and a responsibility to do this wonderful job. Welcome to my world.
