Many people have heard of it, but are unsure what it means, and what a treatment involves.
'Reiki' is Japanese and means 'Universal Life Force Energy', the energy of which the universe is composed. It is all around us, and Reiki is a way of working with the energy to allow the body to rebalance itself. It can help restore vitality, relieve stress and anxiety, and improve recovery from sickness or
physical injury. It helps cope with grief, depression, and can help improve quality of sleep. Even in cases of long term or terminal illness, Reiki can help the person come to terms with the situation and receive gentle support from this energy. To enjoy Reiki, you simply need to attend in comfortable clothes, suitable for receiving Reiki either on a massage bed or seated in a chair if you have mobility issues. The practitioner places their hands over the head, chest, stomach and legs at different times in the session, which can last from about 25 minutes to an hour, depending on requirements. Most people report feeling relaxed and calm after a session, while others may see different colours, or feel a tingling sensation.
