God will provide.

I believe that. Completely.

But I’ve been wondering whether sometimes, as Christians, we say those words while quietly deciding what God’s provision is allowed to look like.

We’re comfortable asking Him to meet our needs. But what happens when what we need feels like “more” than the basics?

More time, continuity or support.

Someone who actually knows us.

Does wanting those things make us ungrateful for the care we already have? Or have we confused gratitude with an obligation to simply accept whatever is available?

My latest blog is about maternity care, the NHS, private care, gratitude, provision and a question I think is particularly worth asking as Christians:

Have we already decided what God’s provision is supposed to look like?

God will provide…but only up to a point?

Having had an exceptionally busy August where I was at 3 births. And with my son starting school, I am making some changes to the way I run my business.

Instead of taking on 2 clients due each month, I am reducing it down to 1.

This is going to help me ensure that I have time for my children when they need me, as well as ensuring I am not rushing between clients.

When you have an appointment with me. I want you to feel like the most important person in the world! I want you to feel seen and heard, not rushed.

Up until now, I know I have managed that with having multiple clients due each month, but I know I won't be able to do that going forward and also pick my kids up on the school run in my normal day to day life.

What isn't changing, is the incredible support I have around me that facilitates me to drop everything and run when my clients are in labour. So you will never need to doubt whether I will be there when you need me.

I have released my final blog in my "ideal birth" mini series.

This one is looking at where the pressures for an ideal birth come from from a Christian perspective.

As Christians we not only have the usual social/cultural pressures surrounding birth. There is also a layer added from interpretations of the Bible and cultural pressures within a church context.

You can find the blog in the linktree in my bio. Let me know what you think. Would you have added anything else into the mix?

I couldn't believe it when I heard this news earlier.

As Christians we know we are not immune to bad things happening to us, but in circumstances like this, it feels like it hits a little harder.

It is ok for us to question why and feel angry and hurt about the situation. But it's important that we take all of that to God. He is big enough to take ALL of our emotions and processing.

My heart breaks for anyone affected directly or indirectly by this tragedy. I am praying for you, that you know the comfort of the Holy Spirit at this awful time.

I have just posted my second blog on the concept of a "perfect birth".

The first looked at the current landscape of our maternity services.

🤔 This one is looking at where does this idea come from?

Let me know what you think. Are there any others you would add in?

🤔 What on earth is an "ideal birth"?!?!?

This phrase has been plucked out of Baroness Amos's National Maternity and Neonatal Investigation Report and latched on to by our secretary for health and social care, journalists and more.

As is often the case, the original context behind this phrase has been lost. And other controversies surrounding the report have taken over.

🎙Having spoken about this on 📻 Premier Radio yesterday, I was left feeling like we didn't really get to delve into the topic and fully explore it properly. Hey, it's radio, that's pretty common, there's no shade being thrown their way. I am grateful they chose to look at this topic at all.

But I do think this subject needs to be looked at in it's entirety to make sense.

✍️ So I have written a blog post to unpack it more. This subject is so meaty I'm actually going to do a mini series on it.

So if you want to check it out, the first in the series is now live. ⬆️ find a link to it in my link tree in my bio ❤️
