Can Every Funeral Service Really Be Different?
It's been a busy few weeks, and as always every service is different, but now many family's are seeking ways to really make their loved ones services even more bespoke.
In recent years specific music and slideshows of photo's being played, have become a mainstay of services.
But families being inventive keeps moving on, as many are now taking to AI to compile very specific poems for their loved ones, which does add a lovely personal touch.
While others are choosing to order flowers in images of something related to the person, rather than having a traditional spray.
At a funeral with Gordon & Watson Funeral Directors, Aberdeen recently, where their loved one enjoyed playing dominoes and was a pigeon fancier, the family ordered flowers in those images, from Anastasia Florists (see below) but to be honest I didn't get the pic of the pigeon at an angle to do it justice.
During another service with Robert Mackie (Funeral Directors), Peterhead, where the family member always collected and built Lego, a friend saw these Lego flowers and vase in B&M of all places.
So there are many way and ideas, to make these celebrations of life special.

The World Cup is over, so here's the winners of the Alzheimer Scotland Fund Raiser which helped us raise £305 for the charity, and over the next few days I'm hoping to be able to post photos of the guys with their winners cheques.

The first results are in, with goals having to be checked on both Sky TV and BBC Sport.

The first prize goes the person who has the team that scored most goals in the group stage, which was a 3-way tie between France, Netherlands and Germany who all scored 10 goals. So, thank goodness for the tie breaker, which was decided by which of those tied teams scored the fastest goal in their first game played.
France (Mark Stuart) scored their first goal in the 66th minute.
Netherlands (Neil McHattie) scored their first goal in the 51st minute
Which means the winner, scoring their first goal in the 6th minute of their first match was, Germany. Congratulations Mark Cochrane the winner of £25.

The second prize goes to the person who has the country who conceded most goals in the 1st round of games, which again was a tie. This time between Tunisia (Mark Cochrane – again !!) and Iraq (Doug McMurray), who both conceded 12 goals, so again a tie breaker was needed, to determine which of those tied teams conceded the latest goal in their first game played, causing this to be double and triple checked, because:

Tunisia conceded their last goal of their 1st game in the 96th minute, which was equalled by Iraq in their first game.

So it then came down to their next again goals conceded, with both BBC and SKY showing that Iraq’s 2nd last goal conceded in their first match was in the 76th minute, which means Tunisia who conceded their 2nd last goal in their first game in the 84th minute, meaning Mark Cochrane wins again, and had a clean sweep on the first 2 prizes.

Well done Mark.

Remember the good that’s come out of this bit of fun? A few weeks back we raised £305 for Alzheimer’s Scotland, by everyone buying a number and then randomly being allocated a country for the World Cup, so well done to you all who joined in.
Anyway, time for another update for the:
• Highest scorers
and for those who have
• Conceded the most, so far
with each having a £25 prize.
The last round of games starts tonight and ends on the early hours on Sunday morning, but as I’m away the weekend, I will post a final update for the winners of that part of the competition, later on Monday once I’m back.
Highest Scorers – so far:
Germany (Mark Cochrane) – 9 goals – play Ecuador next but they have only conceded 1 goal. So can they stop Germany streaking ahead.
Canada (Alfie Barclay) – 7 goals – play Switzerland who are only second to Canada on goal difference and have 5 goals themselves.
USA (Ian McPherson)– 6 goals – play Turkey who haven’t even got a point yet, and are the only team yet to score.
Now the next three are all in the same group so something has to give:
Netherlands (Neil McHattie) – 7 goals - play Tunisia next who are also on the most to concede list below.
While:
Japan (Graeme Reid) – 6 goals - and Sweden (Garry Scottish Lions) – 6 goals - play each other.
France (Mark Stuart) – 6 goals - and Norway (Martin – Scottish Lions) – 7 goals also play each other in their final game on Friday.
And lastly there’s
Portugal (Drew Sinclair) – 6 goals - and play Colombia.
Those who have conceded the most, so far are:
Tunisia – 9 goals – play Netherlands who are one of the top scorers so far, so maybe expect Tunisia’s goals against to rocket.
Uzbekistan – 8 goals – play Congo DR who have only 1 goal to their name.
Qatar – 7 goals – play Bosnia tonight which is just the team above them in their group
Curacao – 7 goals – play Ivory Coast who although in 2nd place in their group, have only scored 2 goals themselves
The next 2 countries also play each other
Senegal – 6 goals conceded, and Iraq – with 7 goals conceded, so there could be a barrow load in this one
And Sweden – 6 goals – are the only team on both lists, so are goals are surely guaranteed, but will Sweden score them, let them in, or both.

Here's a wee update on the World Cup 'Alzheimer Scotland' Fund Raiser, for which £305 was raised. It’s only the start, and with 2 rounds of games left before we can say who is the highest scorers and who conceded the most from the group stages, (remember it’s not the goal difference, it’s the actual goals scored or conceded), so here’s who has scored the most, and being only one game each, the teams they played will be the ones who have conceded the most. Those with most hope are perhaps Mark Cochrane, Ian McPherson, and Garry – Scottish Lions, who are currently all in the running for the highest scorer and highest concede ……. so far.
I imagine once everyone has played their second games, things will become clearer.
And if anyone is wondering, The Scottish Lions is the Aston Villa Scottish Supporter Group.

During busy times, it's easy to go about without appreciating where you are. And in the last few days working alongside Robert Mackie (Funeral Directors) Ive had the opportunity to enjoy some beautiful places around North Aberdeenshire at a lovely time of year. Going back to Old Cruden Parish Church Cemetery for this first time in a while, I saw it was basically surrounded by yellow fields of rapeseed. Then Fetterangus Village Hall which is really well kept and seats up to 150 apparently, as well as having other decent sized rooms for use. And lastly at Fetterangus Kirkyard which is the bonnie photo of the arched entry.
