Singing Mamas this morning, outside with a lovely bunch of women, their kids, and ny own special helpers 🥰 Thanks to Rebecca Byfield-Riches for capturing this moment where I was singing When I Was Young by Tzeb Bishop whilst also trying to distract my daughter from wanting to go on CBeebies Playtime Island! Gotta love the summer holidays 😂🫠🥰

Hello! Just to say on Monday 10th August at Emsworth Songbirds the theme for our singing will be: calming the nervous system, and self-care and love (two very difficult but important things)…

I’ll teach through repetition uplifting and soothing songs with several harmonies woven in. It’s always for the love of singing and never for performance.

No need to introduce yourself, or to even sing if you just need to listen and be around other women. You’ll never be too much or too little - just exactly as you are is perfect. No singing experience needed, or you can have lots, either way you can just show up, grab a cuppa and take a seat*.

We start singing at 8pm and finish at 9pm. Yes it’s late - but it’s only once a month and often very needed medicine!

The best experiences in life happen outside of Instagram and are seldom captured on film. That’s part of why they’re so wonderful. What I love about singing with others is you can’t help but be fully present, that’s why I so rarely film (also because we sing for wellbeing, not performance. And nd how much truer when you’re sweating in 60+ degree heat too!)

We did not film most of the session, we let the songs and the heat do their magic. But thank you so much to these wonderful Singing Sauna Sisters for letting a little filming happen, and helping to show this niche but gorgeous wellbeing experience. As one of the women said afterwards: “Who knew that’s what we all needed?!”…

This was me practicing the Shruti Box the evening I got it (last Tuesday after a glorious solo trip to Landan)…

Very beginner and kids have made sure I haven’t been able to practice since. BUT I just bloody well love her already. She breathes and sings with me. This was an indulgent purchase but also essential self medication.

It’s also something hope to bring to Songbird sessions - would anyone like to sing with her? ✨

Calling women and mums in the Bognor area 🧡 Laura Blake of Singing Mamas and The Regis School of music invite you to a trial session for just £3 - to sing together with other women and to have a cup of tea and some cake.

This session will be at 10am for 90 minutes on Wednesday 29th July, and we would love for you (and your little one if you have one) to join us.

We will sing easy, uplifting songs, all taught by Laura on the day using call and response learning - so no sheet music in sight. You can have lots of music experience or absolutely none, all are welcome.

Singing promotes bonding through cortisol release, with each other and with your baby, and it also lower stress through dopamine, in fact there are so many benefits it’s hard to list them all here!
