What does person-centred therapy actually mean? 💚 At its heart, it means that you are at the centre of the therapeutic process. Your therapist isn't there to judge you or tell you what to do. Instead, they provide a safe, empathetic and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.

Because sometimes, having someone truly listen can be the first step towards understanding yourself a little better.

Sometimes, the news can feel like a lot, especially recently with some triggering stories involving celebrities appearing constantly across our feeds. Even when we don't know the people involved personally, upsetting stories can still affect us. They can bring up memories, worries or emotions that we weren't expecting.

It’s okay to step away 🤍

Try:
🌿 Put your phone down for 20–30 minutes and do something grounding: make a cup of tea, take a walk or sit somewhere quiet.

🫶 Use your senses: notice 5 things you can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear, 2 you can smell and 1 you can taste.

📵 Mute or unfollow accounts if their content is leaving you feeling overwhelmed. Protecting your peace isn't being uninformed, it's looking after yourself.

Take the break. Breathe. Come back when you feel ready. 💚

✨ We're absolutely thrilled to share some exciting news...

The Wellbeing Therapy Hut has been named a FINALIST in the UK Small Business Awards 2026 for Best Community Contribution! 🏆

When I started The Wellbeing Therapy Hut, I had one simple goal: to make mental health support accessible to everyone, regardless of their circumstances.

Today, we've supported thousands of people across Surrey and beyond, built an incredible team of passionate therapists, created affordable counselling from just £20 a session, delivered workshops in schools and the community, and worked tirelessly to break down the stigma surrounding mental health.

To now be recognised nationally for the impact we're making is something I honestly never imagined.

This nomination isn't just for me. It's for every member of our amazing team, every client who has trusted us with their story, every school, GP, charity and organisation we've worked alongside, and everyone who has supported our mission over the years.

As a small independent business, moments like this mean everything. They remind us that compassion, community and accessibility really do make a difference.

Thank you to everyone who has believed in us. ❤️

Here's to the awards... and to continuing to make mental health support accessible for everyone.

Pressure to make memories.
Pressure to say yes to every invitation.
Pressure to keep the children entertained.
Pressure to enjoy every sunny day.
Pressure to be out living your "best life."

The reality? Summer can be wonderful, but it can also be overwhelming.

For parents and caregivers, the school holidays can mean juggling work, childcare and endless activities. For others, it might be disrupted routines, financial worries, loneliness, grief, or simply feeling exhausted while everyone else seems to be having the perfect summer.

Here's your reminder: you don't have to earn your rest, and your summer doesn't have to look like anyone else's. 💚

If feelings of overwhelm, anxiety or stress are becoming difficult to manage, we're here to help. Our assessment process helps us understand your needs and match you with the counsellor who is the best fit for you.

Starting therapy can feel like stepping into the unknown, and for many people, it's the uncertainty that feels most daunting.

💭 What if I don't know what to say?
💭 Will I be expected to share everything straight away?
💭 What actually happens in that first session?

The truth is, there is no pressure to have all the answers. Your first appointment is about getting to know you, understanding what's brought you to therapy, and helping you feel comfortable. You can go at your own pace, and there's no "right" or "wrong" way to do therapy.

At The Wellbeing Therapy Hut, your journey begins with an assessment. This gives us the opportunity to understand your needs and carefully match you with the counsellor who is best suited to support you.

📖 Read our latest blog to learn more about what happens in a first therapy session.

If you're ready to begin your journey, get in touch to book an assessment – we'd love to help you find the right support.

Absolutely not. Therapy isn't only for people experiencing a crisis. Many people come to therapy because they want to understand themselves better, manage stress or anxiety, improve relationships, build confidence, process life changes, or simply have a safe space to talk.

You don't have to wait until things feel unbearable before asking for support. In fact, seeking help early can often make it easier to navigate challenges before they become overwhelming.

Whatever you're facing, if it's impacting your wellbeing, therapy may be able to help. If you've been wondering whether therapy could help, we're here to answer your questions and help you find the right support. 💚

Our minds can be quick to jump to the worst-case scenario. It's one of the ways anxiety tries to protect us, but it doesn't always give us the full picture.

A CBT technique is to gently ask yourself:

🤍 What's the worst that could happen?
🤍 If it did happen, how would I cope?
🤍 Have I overcome difficult situations before?
🤍 What would I say to a friend who had this worry?

This isn't about pretending that bad things can't happen. It's about reminding yourself that you are often more resilient than anxiety would have you believe. Sometimes, the worst happens... and you find a way through it. More often than not, the outcome isn't as catastrophic as your anxious mind predicted.

If anxiety is making everyday life feel overwhelming, you don't have to navigate it alone. Therapy can help you understand your thoughts, develop practical coping strategies, and feel more in control. Reach out if you'd like to find out how we can support you.

Stress has a way of creeping up on us, often without us even realising. The good news is that small, mindful moments can make a big difference. Taking a few slow breaths, stepping outside for fresh air, or simply pausing for a minute can help calm your nervous system and bring you back to the present.

Remember, you don't have to wait until you're overwhelmed to prioritise your wellbeing. Small steps count. If stress is feeling constant or impacting your daily life, therapy can help you explore what's going on and find coping strategies that work for you.

🌿 Which mindful practice helps you feel more grounded? Let us know in the comments.

💚 You don't have to be at breaking point to benefit from therapy. The signs in this post are just a few examples of reasons someone might seek support. They're far from an exhaustive list. Everyone's experience is different, and there is no "right" reason to start therapy.

You might be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally drained, struggling in your relationships, finding it hard to cope with change, or simply feeling like something isn't quite right. Therapy isn't only for times of difficultly, it's also a space to understand yourself better, build resilience, and improve your overall wellbeing.

If you found yourself relating to any of these signs, it might be worth exploring what support could look like for you. Reaching out can feel daunting, but you don't have to navigate things alone. 💚

Our team of compassionate therapists are here to support you at your own pace, in a safe and non-judgemental space. If you're wondering whether therapy could help, we'd love to hear from you.

✨ Get in touch to book an initial assessment and take the first step towards feeling more like yourself.

🚨 Please remember: If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis or is at immediate risk of harm, therapy is not the right emergency support. Please call 999 or go to your nearest A&E department immediately.
