This report by the UK charity National FASD estimates that Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder costs society £9.2 billion/year.

2-4% of children and young people in the UK may be affected by FASD making it the commonest neurodevelopmental condition however it remains hugely under diagnosed. Diagnosis requires a multi professional team with shared expertise in FASD, including paediatrician, psychologist, speech and language therapist and occupational therapist. Early diagnosis and identification of additional needs means that children and young people with FASD can be better supported to thrive.

EPIC have the expertise to assess for FASD. For more information visit https://www.epicsolutions.org.uk/services/neurodevelopmental-assessment/fasd-assessment/

A new Wednesday session starts at Exeter Library this September, built for neurodivergent children, young people and their families. From 9 September, our ND Family Hub runs every Wednesday during term time in the Children's Library.

Drop in between 12.30 - 2.30pm for games, LEGO, sensory play and books, and meet other families in a relaxed, supportive setting. Led by parents, this session has no fixed structure and no pressure to stay the whole time. Bring your children, bring an activity they love, and let them lead the way.

Each week, a local organisation joins us to answer questions and share information about support and services near you. First up on 9 September: PDA Devon

Free to attend. No booking needed. All ages welcome 😊

This worrying increase in eating disorders is very much seen in children and young people too. It is essential that services also recognise the obesity crisis across the population, children and young people included.

All eating problems have risks to physical health. Holistic assessment, early intervention and individualised support is key.

EPIC offer this approach for a range of eating difficulties with our multiprofessional team.

Sadly we hear this from so many of our parents/carers. EPIC are here to help and support. We have an avoidant restrictive food intake (ARFID) pathway that is tailored to every individual’s needs.

This is led by our specialist dietitian with support from our multidisciplinary team including paediatrician, psychologist, occupational therapist, speech and language therapist and systemic therapist.

We also offer assessment and support for other concerns around abnormal eating patterns.
