Scapolite can be found in many different colours, including: yellow, purple, colourless, white, brown, pink or grey.

Yellow Scapolite resonates with the heart and solar plexus chakras. Placing this crystal at either of these chakras during a crystal layout can help to encourage the flow of energy between the two chakras.

Wearing a necklace of Yellow Scapolite over the heart enhances transformation and learning; ideal in situations such as starting a new job or school/college.

This stone has a hardness of 5 – 6 on the Mohs scale, so it could be used to create gem water, but ensure that the crystal you are using has no broken or flaking parts that could leach into the water. If in doubt, use the indirect method. Sipping this water throughout the day can help with feeling balanced and lifting the mood.

Why do we cleanse crystals?

Saussurite is a grey-green stone that resonates with the brow chakra.

This crystal can be placed on the forehead (third eye) during a crystal layout to help clear fogginess and bring clarity. An alternative to the third eye is the alta major chakra at the base of the occipital bone (where the base of the skull meets the top of the neck) – placing a crystal here assists with increasing our openness to receiving messages and guidance.

Wearing Saussurite as a necklace may help to ease a dry or sore throat and encourage release of tension in the neck.

Saussurite has a hardness of 6 – 7 on the Mohs scale which makes it suitable to use to create gem water. Sipping this water throughout the day can encourage us to seek new growth opportunities if things have been feeling a bit stagnant.

Meditating with the crystal assists with remaining focused, and could be useful for introspection concerning heart-based issues such as love and forgiveness; teaching us to let go of that which no longer serves our highest good.

Porphyry (or Porphory) is a mixture of various silicate materials. It is sometimes known as Chinese Writing Stone due to the markings and patterns resembling the strokes of Chinese written characters.

The prettiest examples of this stone are black and white, but it can also be found in shades of brown and green.

This crystal resonates with the throat chakra and can be placed here during a crystal layout to balance and ground this particular chakra.

Wearing Porphyry as a necklace may help with working through blockages that affect speech or built-up tension in the neck and shoulders.

As Porphyry has a hardness of 6.5 – 7.5 on the Mohs scale, it is suitable to use for creating gem water via the direct method. Sipping this water assists with filtering all you see and hear throughout the day, helping to promote discernment.

Porphyry can be a useful stone to connect with to meditate on the beliefs you hold about yourself. This can enable you to recognise and release the opinions and comments from others that do not serve your highest good.

Peridot is the gem quality form of Olivine and it is always green. Peridot is created in areas of magma and is brought to the surface by volcanic activity.

This crystal connects with both the heart and the throat in a crystal layout – place at the heart to ease energetic blockages, or place at the throat to encourage speaking your truth.

Wearing Peridot as a necklace can help to release tension in the shoulders and neck, or wearing as a bracelet can assist with working towards emotional balance. As Peridot is generally a very small stone it is more common to find chip or nugget jewellery than rounded beads.

Peridot has a hardness of 6.5 – 7 on the Mohs scale, so it is suitable for using to create gem water. Sipping this water throughout the day can promote speaking up when needed.

Meditating with Peridot can help with examining situations where there has been a lot of input that has been difficult to process i.e. helping you to sort the wheat from the chaff. In other words: what feels right and you are happy to keep in your energy, and what feels like it needs to be cut away and released.
