On Saturday 15 August in beautiful sunshine 25 of us set off to explore a potential new walk from Madron Church, felt the companionship of the Celtic saints in the Celtic Crosses on the way, walked along ancient pathways, maize fields, pausing for lunch on the way before hearing about St Creed’s love of pigs and the inscribed Crosses in Sancreed Churchyard followed by a very welcome cup of tea in Sancreed Church Hall. Thank you to Vicky Howard and colleagues who prepared, and led us in this new Way.

15 intrepid pilgrims walked along the beautiful estuary from Little Petherick to Padstow thinking about St Petroc reciting Psalms and listening to Van Morrison ‘Contacting My Angel’ along the way. At St Petroc’s Church in Padstow we were really blessed to meet , and preparing for baby Perran’s baptism. Along the stunning landscape towards Trevone Bay, along the coast to St Merryn where we saw the Celtic Saints altar stone in the wall there. A couple of pints in made a perfect end to a great walk in very good company.

In this glorious Cornish springtime we are looking forward to leading 14 pilgrims (and maybe some added day walkers) from the very start of the Cornish Celtic Way at St Germans Priory on Wednesday 6 May to Tywardreath on Saturday 9 May. We will be staying overnight and receiving great hospitality at Downderry, Looe and Polruan. You are welcome to join us walking on any of the days: Wednesday 6 May: St Germans to St Nicholas Church Downderry Thursday 7 May: Downderry to Talland Friday 8 May: Talland to Polruan and especially Saturday 9 May: Polruan to Tywardreath which will also be May’s Saturday Walk too. 20 intrepid pilgrims braved the windy but sunny walk along the stunningly beautiful North Cornish coast from Bassetts Cove to Gwithian Church last Saturday 11 April. At the beginning we picked up a stone from the path to symbolise all the war torn countries and peoples we carry in our hearts - Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, Ukraine - and the many people who have lost their lives in these war zones in recent weeks. We placed the stone at the Celtic cross at Gwithian on arrival. We also reflected on the Christian martyrs who lost their lives in coming to Cornwall in the 6th century, particularly St Gwinear and St Gothian. We paused to enjoy a welcome break at the recently refurbished and much improved Hell’s Mouth Cafe and were given great hospitality and a Cornish Cream Tea by Tracey Worrall, the Churchwarden at Gwithian on our arrival.
