In light of a certain currently viral clip of someone shaming breastfeeding women, I feel the need to remind all you lovely mums something…
Your baby has needs, and those needs don’t always arrive at convenient times.
The middle of a class is when they decide they need to p**p.
Or maybe they suddenly realise they’re hungry even though they fed recently.
Maybe they want feeding for comfort, maybe they’re thirsty. Maybe they’re tired, maybe they just need a cuddle.
Maybe they’re having a day where they simply aren’t feeling it and would rather sleep.
Whatever your baby needs, you are welcome to meet that need in my classes. No judgement. No embarrassment. No need to apologise.
And please remember, you are entitled to feed your baby in whatever way works for you, wherever you are. Breastfeeding, bottle feeding, expressing, combination feeding… feeding your baby is not something you should ever feel ashamed of.
It’s not just feeding…
If your baby needs changing, comfort, cuddles, winding, settling, a break from a part of the class, you do it. It’s your job as their mum and you never need to apologise for doing it!
And mums… you are allowed to have needs too.
If you feel overwhelmed, incredibly tired, emotional, or like you’re just having one of those days, your feelings are valid.
If you’re struggling with wind, colic, feeding, settling or anything else, you can ask for help. Ask me, ask another mum.
There is no judgement here.
There is just a room full of mums doing their absolute best, babies being babies, and a safe space where you can come exactly as you are.
So feed your baby.
Change your baby.
Cuddle your baby.
Comfort your baby.
Let them sleep.
Let them cry.
Take a breath yourself.
Do whatever you and your baby need.
You never need to feel ashamed for caring for your baby 🤍
