🌿 ACUPUNCTURE SUPPORT FOR ANXIETY 🌿
At Hawkinge Holistic Health, we can use acupuncture as part of a wider holistic approach to supporting anxiety, stress and emotional wellbeing.
One protocol we may use combines the 5-point NADA ear protocol with HT7 and GV20.
👂 THE NADA 5-POINT EAR PROTOCOL
🌿 Shen Men – traditionally used to calm the mind and support feelings of relaxation and emotional balance.
🌿 Sympathetic – used to help settle the body's stress response and encourage a shift towards a calmer, more relaxed state.
🌿 Kidney – in Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Kidneys are associated with fear and our ability to cope with prolonged stress.
🌿 Liver – traditionally used where emotional stress presents as tension, frustration, irritability or feeling "wound up."
🌿 Lung – associated in TCM with grief and sadness and can form part of supporting emotional processing and "letting go."
We can then complement these ear points with:
📍 HT7 – Shenmen
A traditional point for calming the Shen – the mind and spirit. Often considered when anxiety is accompanied by restlessness, poor sleep or emotional agitation.
📍 GV20 – Baihui
Located at the top of the head and traditionally used to settle the Shen and support a clearer, calmer mind – particularly when someone feels mentally overwhelmed or unable to switch
📍 Yintang
Positioned between the eyebrows, Yintang is traditionally used to encourage relaxation and emotional balance – helping to ease mental tension, settle racing thoughts and create a greater sense of calm.
Together, the intention is:
Settle the body. Calm the Shen. Quiet the mind. 🌿
Acupuncture isn't about replacing counselling, medication or appropriate medical care. It can instead provide another layer of holistic support for both the physical and emotional experience of anxiety.
