What a fantastic few days at the in Glasgow.

On Sunday evening I was delighted to present at the Motiva Implants UK Medical Education pre-course Surgical Skills Course, sharing my experience of Endoscopic Ni**le-Sparing Mastectomy using a two-stage approach with the Flora Tissue Expander for breast reconstruction.

It was great to hear excellent presentations on breast reconstruction from Steven Thrush and Dr. Antonio Tejerina, with plenty of practical tips and insights to improve outcomes. A huge thank you to Emily Hobman for the invitation and wonderful hospitality.

The conference itself was superbly organised, with thanks to Yazan Masannat and Lucy Davies and the wider team for putting together such an outstanding programme.

I was also delighted to chair the "Debating the Evidence" session alongside Ed St John. It was a great opportunity to catch up with so many friends and colleagues, both old and new, and I returned home with plenty of ideas to introduce into my own practice.

Overall, a hugely successful meeting and I'm already looking forward to next year in Wales.

What a fantastic time in Seattle for the ASBrS meeting. It was great to see colleagues from all over the world and discuss all things Endoscopic Ni**le Sparing Mastectomy related and more!

I am returning home feeling inspired with new ideas to improve patient care. These types of meetings are so important for our professional development and provide opportunity for multinational collaboration.

I'm really looking forward to the American Society of Breast Surgeons Annual Conference in Seattle next week.

I have been invited to take part in various educational events on Endoscopic Ni**le Sparing Mastectomy, showcasing the evidence and patient benefits of minimally invasive mastectomy, alongside my experience here in the UK.

I'm excited to reunite with friends from across the globe and meet the US surgeons who are starting on their journey.

Today on International Women’s Day, I’m reflecting on how far breast surgery has come-and how those advances are helping women face breast cancer with more options, better outcomes, and greater confidence.

Not long ago, treatment often meant large scars, limited reconstructive options, and very little choice. Today, breast surgery has evolved dramatically.

Modern techniques now allow us to prioritise not only cancer treatment, but also body image, wellbeing, and quality of life.

Women may now have access to options such as:
• Breast conserving oncoplastic surgery
• Therapeutic mammoplasty
• Implant reconstruction
• Endoscopic Ni**le-Sparing Mastectomy with hidden scars
• Risk-reducing surgery for women with BRCA1 gene or BRCA2 gene

These innovations mean many women can now undergo treatment with smaller scars, preserved ni***es, more natural breast shape, and faster recovery.

As a breast surgeon, it’s a privilege to support women through some of the most difficult decisions of their lives-and to offer surgical options that simply didn’t exist a generation ago.

On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate strength, choice, innovation, and progress in women’s healthcare.

And we continue working toward a future where every woman has access to the safest, most advanced care possible.

The future of Breast Surgery is already here…

If you carry a BRCA mutation, risk-reducing (prophylactic) surgery can feel like a huge decision.

But preventative mastectomy has evolved.

Endoscopic ni**le-sparing mastectomy allows carefully selected women to undergo risk-reducing surgery through a small incision hidden in the armpit, preserving the natural breast skin and ni**le while significantly reducing future cancer risk.

For many patients, this means:
• No visible scar on the breast
• Immediate implant reconstruction
• A more natural breast shape
• Faster recovery than traditional approaches

This is highly specialised surgery and not everyone is suitable. Careful assessment and a thorough consultation are essential to ensure both oncological safety and the best possible aesthetic outcome.

Endoscopic Ni**le-Sparing Mastectomy is a minimally invasive approach to mastectomy, allowing me to remove the breast tissue, whilst preserving the skin and ni**le and allowing me to perform immediate breast reconstruction at the same time - all through a 3-4cm incision hidden in the armpit.

This procedure is perfect for patients with and mutations who are looking to have surgery to reduce their future risk of developing breast cancer.

I can't believe it's been 2 years since my first Cadaver Lab. Times flies. Since then I have been honoured to join the faculty to teach on international courses. It has been a steep learning curve, but the patient outcomes and satisfaction are unmatched 🔥🔥.
