What are your asthma triggers? 💙

Everyone’s asthma is different. Knowing your triggers, attending regular asthma reviews, taking your steroid regularly and always carrying your inhaler can make a real difference.

Lauren’s Love For Dogs💙

I created these images of Lauren with her dogs, and they brought back so many memories of how deeply she loved them — from Kruger, our white German Shepherd, to Mya, Dani, and Layla, each one so special to her.

Big handsome Kruger who passed away on her birthday.

Mya was my gentle therapy dog through some of the hardest times, including caring for my gran in her last weeks and my cancer treatment.

Dani carried my pop Dan Cunningham’s name, my hero. As I got her in 12th July the day my gran passed.

Layla, who Lauren fought so hard for, as she is disabled shall we say, brought her so much joy and pride for rescuing her. And the reason she worked so hard in the end to help pay for her operation, which her problems couldn’t be fixed. But I clean her p*e all day everyday……For Lauren.

Lauren’s family, friends, dogs, Rangers, and her work as a chef were her world — everything that made her who she was and brought her happiness.

Can anyone actually remember Lauren not with a cheeky grin or a polite hello…..everyone I know has a kind word about her. My Girl and angel.

Seeing her with the dogs she adored is a beautiful reminder of the life she lived. Full of love, fun and kindness.

But her breathing was always difficult since a wee girl because of them. So please do take extra time when thinking of pets with an asthmatic at home. 💙

🎗️WORLD LUNG CANCER DAY🎗️

Today, we remember everyone who has lost their life to lung cancer, those currently fighting it, and the families walking beside them.

This post is also dedicated in loving memory of my stepdad, Chick, who we lost in 2012 to asbestos-related lung cancer.

After already battling leukaemia and being given the all clear, just one week later he was sadly diagnosed with asbestosis. His wish was to spend his final days at home, surrounded by the people who loved him. My mum and I took turns, hour by hour, caring for him and making sure he was never alone.

Lung disease comes in many forms, but they all have one thing in common – they can change lives in an instant.

Here in the UK:

• Around 50,200 people are diagnosed with lung cancer every year – that’s almost 140 people every single day.

• Around 32,800 people lose their lives to lung cancer every year – around 90 lives every day.

• It remains the leading cause of cancer death in the UK.

As many of you know, Lauren’s Law was created after losing my beautiful daughter, Lauren Reid, following a severe asthma attack. Although asthma and lung cancer are very different conditions, they both remind us of just how precious every breath is.

Today, let’s also remember that not everyone with lung cancer has smoked, and not everyone with lung disease looks unwell. Kindness, awareness and early diagnosis can make all the difference.

My thoughts are with everyone affected today, including those remembering loved ones who are no longer here. 💙

A THOUGHT CROSSED MY MIND TODAY 🔥🫁

Hearing that the wildfire in the Cairngorms has now been burning for 11 days, after the recent fires at Arthur’s Seat, really stopped me in my tracks.

I remember visiting the Cairngorms on a school trip, and it’s so sad to see such a beautiful part of Scotland like this.

Across Europe, wildfires are forcing huge numbers of people from their homes. In France alone, hundreds of thousands of people have been evacuated or placed on alert, with communities having to leave everything behind as fires spread.

https://share.google/SHzRF5n7tL5cezdwa

Then my thoughts turned to the fires around Bordeaux…

I’ve been watching the heartbreaking scenes there too. Maybe it caught my attention a little more because my Layla is a Dogue de Bordeaux.

As families are told to leave their homes with only minutes to spare, panic must set in.

You’d be thinking about your children…
your partner…
your parents…
your pets…

You’d be grabbing whatever you could and hoping you’d made the right decisions.

Then a thought crossed my mind…

How many people remember to grab their inhaler?

In the middle of an emergency, it’s understandable that essential medication could be forgotten. But for someone living with asthma or another lung condition, an inhaler isn’t just another item — it can be something they desperately need, especially when the air is filled with smoke.

Wildfire smoke contains tiny particles that can irritate the lungs and trigger coughing, wheezing, chest tightness and asthma symptoms.

Today my thoughts are with everyone affected by these devastating fires, those worried about their homes and animals, and the incredible firefighters risking everything to protect people, wildlife and our countrysides.

A simple reminder could save a life. Please stay safe everyone 🙏

What’s the kindest thing someone has ever done for you?

During the 4 days we spent in the Intensive Care Unit waiting room, surrounded by family and friends, something happened that I’ll never forget.

One person quietly smiled and said, “Lauren bought me this phone cover.”

A little while later, someone else said, “Lauren bought me this T-shirt.”

Then another friend said, “Lauren bought me this…”

And then another…

As I sat there listening, it suddenly hit me just how many lives Lauren had quietly touched.

She never bought people things because she had to. She did it because she’d see something that reminded her of someone she loved, and she’d want to make them smile.

That was Lauren.

Kind, thoughtful, caring… right down to her core.

Looking back on that moment in the waiting room, I realised something else too…

Maybe I didn’t do too bad bringing up such a kind-hearted wee soul after all. 💙

Now I’d love to hear from you…

What’s the kindest thing someone has ever done for you?

When these days just come from nowhere…..But I know my angel is never far away💙

“This is you, this is me, this is all we need

Is it true? My faith is shaken, but I still believe

This is you, this is me, this is all we need

So won't you stay a while

And hold me while you wait

I wish that I was good enough

If only I could wake you up

My love, my love, my love, my love

Won’t you stay a while

I wish you cared a little more

I wish you'd told me this before

My love, my love, my love, my love

Won’t you stay a while”

⚠️I MUST TRIGGER THIS POST & LINK BUT WHAT AN AMAZING OUTCOME BY THESE COURAGEOUS CHILDREN IN MISSISSIPPI⚠️

https://abcnews.com/GMA/Living/middle-schoolers-hailed-heroes-after-driver-medical-emergency/story?id=132446924

While researching today I came across this amazing story.

A school bus in Mississippi was carrying around 40 children when the driver, Leah Taylor, suddenly suffered a severe asthma attack and lost consciousness behind the wheel.

In those terrifying moments, the students didn’t panic.

One child grabbed the steering wheel, another applied the brakes, others called 911, while another pupil recognised the driver’s asthma medication and helped her use it. Together, these incredible young people brought the bus safely to a stop and helped save the driver’s life, as well as the lives of everyone else on board. (ABC News)

What an amazing reminder that courage comes in all ages.

This story also highlights just how quickly asthma can become a life-threatening emergency. It doesn’t matter where you are – at home, at school, at work or even behind the wheel – asthma can strike without warning.

Well done to every one of those brave children. You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves. 💙

Some love stories never end… they simply continue in our hearts and in Heaven.

Happy Heavenly Wedding Anniversary, Gran & Pop.

I know Mum isn’t always a fan of AI, but I really hope she loves this one. I brought two separate photographs from the same era together to create the image of them that never existed, but should have.

Give our wee Lauren the biggest kiss and cuddle from her me and one from her gran too. 💙

Until we meet again.

Nature really is incredible at this time of year.☀️

Every time I hear the magpies, I know that’s Lauren around me. They always make me stop, smile and feel close to her. Moments like these remind me that even on the hardest days, there is still so much beauty all around us.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been lucky enough to visit some beautiful places, with colourful flowers in full bloom, peaceful surroundings and glorious sunshine. Nature has a wonderful way of lifting your spirits. Spending time outdoors can do wonders not only for your physical health, but for your mental wellbeing too.

I also had the loveliest wee cuddle with beautiful baby River, who’s growing up so quickly already.

And it was a pleasure to finally meet Dave the Doberman! He was far too excited to stand still long enough for a cuddle, but he certainly kept us smiling. Hopefully next time he’ll let me steal a wee hug! 🐾

🌼 If you suffer from asthma or hay fever, please remember that pollen levels remain high across many parts of the UK at the moment.

Today’s pollen picture across the UK is roughly:
🟢 Low – Northern Highlands, Orkney & Shetland.
🟡 Moderate – Parts of northern Scotland.
🟠 High – Much of Scotland (including Glasgow), northern England, Yorkshire, the Midlands, London and the South East.
🔴 Very High – Parts of Wales, the North West of England and Northern Ireland.

While we’re all enjoying this gorgeous weather, here are a few simple reminders:

☀️ Stay well hydrated.
☀️ Wear sunscreen and a hat if you’re out for long periods.
☀️ Try to avoid being outdoors when pollen levels are at their highest, especially early morning and early evening.
☀️ Keep your windows closed if pollen triggers your asthma or hay fever.
☀️ If you take antihistamines, remember to take them as directed before your symptoms become severe.
☀️ Always carry your reliever inhaler with you. Heat, pollen and exercise together can all trigger asthma symptoms, even if you’re only popping out for a short walk.

Take a moment today to slow down. Listen to the birds, admire the flowers, enjoy the sunshine and make memories with the people you love.

Sometimes the smallest things in nature remind us that those we love are never truly far away. 💙
