Eye safety guidelines -
1. Never look at the sun with the naked eye โ not even briefly, and not even when it's heavily covered by the Moon. Sunglasses, however dark, are not safe.
2. Use only ISO 12312-2 certified eclipse glasses โ check the standard number is printed on the frame. If they're scratched, torn, or more than 3 years old, don't use them.
3. Don't view through cameras, phones, binoculars, or telescopes while wearing eclipse glasses โ the concentrated light can burn through the filter. Use dedicated solar filters on optical equipment.
4. Supervise children closely โ make sure eclipse glasses are fitted properly and not removed while looking sunward.
5. Take breaks โ even with certified glasses, don't stare continuously; look away every so often.
6. If you develop blurred vision, eye pain, or spots in your vision after the eclipse, book an eye check promptly โ solar retinopathy isn't always immediately painful but can cause lasting damage.
