Front on pictures after a rhinoplasty are not so common to see online probably because most people who come to see me about their nose are more concerned about the side view. It's also the hardest part of a rhinoplasty to predict what the front on view will be like. To make the nose slimmer, we have to crack the bones at the side of the nose and push them in towards each other. But every time we break a bone in our bodies, our bones expand to fill the gap. Your body knows where it's been injured because there's an internal bruise at that point. To fix the bone, the bone cells grow along the mesh work of the internal bruise until they meet another bone cell. They also start laying down bone during this process. They means if you bruise a lot, your nose will get wider to begin with and we're then relying on bone remodelling to see a slimmer nose.
Thank you, as always, to my lovely patients who give me permission to help others make important decisions in their lives
