Burnout isn't caused by a lack of holidays.

It's often the result of prolonged workplace stress that hasn't been recognised or addressed.

While time off can help someone recover, it won't fix the workplace factors that contributed to burnout in the first place.

That's why preventing burnout isn't just about encouraging annual leave.

It's about:
🧠 Equipping managers to recognise the signs early
💬 Creating psychologically safe teams
⚖ Respecting healthy boundaries
🤝 Building workplace cultures where people can thrive, not just cope

Swipe through to explore one of the biggest myths about burnout.

As part of our campaign exploring the connection between sport and mental health, we asked people involved in sport one simple question:

What has sport given you that has had the biggest impact on your life?

The answers went far beyond fitness and competition.

People spoke about finding purpose, building confidence, discovering supportive communities and forming friendships that have lasted a lifetime.

Here are some of their reflections ⬇️

As part of our campaign exploring the connection between sport and mental health, we're sharing stories from people about the role sport has played in their lives.

For Melissa, joining a sports team after moving to Scotland provided much more than somewhere to exercise. It brought friendship, belonging and a community that helped her feel at home.

Living with ADHD, Melissa also describes exercise as one of the most important ways she manages stress, protects her mental health and finds clarity.

Her story is a reminder that sometimes the biggest benefit of sport isn't winning or improving performance, it's simply knowing there are people around you.

Here are some of Melissa's reflections ⬇️

What's one thing your organisation does to support employee wellbeing all year round?

National Wellness Month is a reminder that mental health isn't just an individual responsibility, but that it's shaped by the workplace too.

People spend most of their day, and ultimately their lives, at work so our wellbeing is influenced a lot by the work environment we are in every day. It's time to think about what helps people stay healthy, engaged, and resilient at work.

That means:
💬 Managers who check in regularly
🤝 Colleagues who feel supported and included
🕰 Healthy boundaries that allow people to switch off
🧠 Access to the right wellbeing support when it's needed
📈 A culture where people can thrive, not just get through the day

Creating healthier workplaces isn't about one initiative or one awareness month.

It's about making wellbeing part of everyday working life.

This coming Monday is a Bank Holiday in Scotland!

Whether you're spending the day with family, getting outdoors, catching up on sleep or simply enjoying a slower pace, give yourself permission to rest.

Taking time to recharge isn't a luxury – it's an important part of protecting your wellbeing.

And if you're one of the many people keeping essential services running today, thank you. If you're enjoying the day off, remember to show a little extra patience and kindness to those who are still working.

New research from Neurodiversity in Business and Birkbeck, University of London reinforces something we've long believed at Lifelink Workwell: creating neuroinclusive workplaces isn't just the right thing to do – it's good for people and organisations alike.

The 2026 report highlights that:
• Psychological safety remains one of the strongest drivers of wellbeing and retention.
• Flexible working and supportive managers help neurodivergent employees perform at their best.
• Return-to-office mandates can negatively impact engagement, career satisfaction and burnout.

The findings are a timely reminder that neuroinclusion isn't about one-size-fits-all solutions. It's about designing workplaces where people can contribute their strengths and feel supported to do their best work.

If you're looking to build a more inclusive workplace, this report is well worth reading.

“The qualities you develop through sport - discipline, teamwork, leadership and performing under pressure - are the same qualities that help people succeed in business."

From growing up in an Olympic family to representing both Bulgaria and Scotland across a 20-year international badminton career, Viktoria Tsvetanova has experienced elite sport from every angle. Now a senior competition lawyer at Dentons, as well as a Board Member for Badminton Europe and European Vice President to the Badminton World Federation (BWF), we spoke to her about her experiences of sport and mental health.
