Sweet Child o Mine came on the radio while I was mid-conversation with my son about his National 5 revision. The irony wasn't lost on me. It was on Radio One all the time when I was his age, revising for my exams. It took me right back.
Exam season is here — and it's not just teenagers who feel it. We do as well. But let's try not to get our stuff mixed up with theirs. Remember...
Teenagers borrow our perspective. Calm reassurance goes further than you'd think.
Breaks are part of learning. Rest isn't wasted time; it helps concentration, memory and mood (chocolate helps too!)
There's no single right path. National 5s and Highers matter, but they don't define their future.
Watch for overwhelm. Changes in sleep, mood or appetite can mean they need connection more than another revision reminder.
Small moments count. A walk, a chat in the car, something on TV together — low-pressure connection matters.
Wishing every family facing this exam diet much luck and love. 🌿
