Communication does not live in worksheets. It lives in routines.

Car journeys, tidy up time and outdoor play are where children practise language and connection. When staff feel confident, children feel safe. When children feel safe, communication grows.

Can Do In Practice supports nurseries to embed communication into what they already do. If your team wants confidence and clarity, we can help.

One of the best communication opportunities happens at your kitchen table.

Meal or snack time is full of choices, turn taking, eye contact and waiting or airspace as we love to call it.

These tiny moments help you and your child build confidence and connection together. You do not need special activities or to buy anything extra. Everyday life is enough.

Parent Path shows families how to turn simple routines into communication growth. If you want easy, practical ideas, we can guide you. We're seeing it with the families that are using it currently and it's helping families ease the pressure of every day life, as well as making things calmer.

September is when families feel the pressure most. New routines, new expectations and long waits for specialist support can make everything feel heavier. What we’re seeing across our commissioned areas is clear: early, everyday guidance changes that.

Parent Path is already bridging the gap between waiting lists and SLT. Families are using simple, strength based tools day in, day out - and the impact is visible. Children arrive at SLT better prepared. Practitioners see clearer patterns. Parents feel more confident and less overwhelmed.

If you are a commissioner or decision maker looking for a scalable, human approach that supports families from day one, Parent Path is ready to work for you. It strengthens the universal layer, reduces pressure on specialist pathways and gives families what they need now, not months down the line.

If you know someone who would benefit from Parent Path or would be interested in exploring it for their area, please tag them or share this post with them.

The most powerful communication work you do is already happening in your day. Snack time, tidy up time and outdoor play are full of moments where children connect, share, show you what they know and invite you in. You do not need extra planning. You simply need to notice what is already working. When children feel safe and calm, communication grows.

Can Do In Practice helps staff use everyday routines to build confident communicators. If your setting wants simple, practical tools that make a real difference, we can support you.

Let’s say it plainly. September can be brutal when you’re worried about your child’s speech. The pressure to “catch up” is everywhere, and it can make you feel like you’re already behind.

But here’s the truth most parents never hear:
Your child is communicating.
They have strengths.
They have skills.
They have potential that is already visible.

Parent Path helps you unlock it.
We show you how to turn everyday moments into communication growth without forcing, rushing or comparing your child to anyone else.

If you want a calmer, clearer, more effective way to support your child’s speech, Parent Path is your answer.

If your child has a favourite toy, repetition is one of the easiest ways to help them learn and feel confident.

When children repeat the same sound, action or game over and over, their brain is practising, strengthening and building patterns. You can join in by repeating simple phrases linked to whatever they love.

Here it is
Uh oh again
Go
Stop
More
Bye bye
Hello

Repeat the same phrase each time the toy moves, lights up, rolls or makes a noise. Copy their sound or action. Pause, then repeat it again. Keep the game simple and predictable and let them lead.

Repetition helps your child feel safe, understood and ready to learn. Every repeated moment is a small step forward.

If you would like more simple ideas to use at home while you wait for support, the Can Do Parent Path is here for you.

Communication is happening long before words.
It’s in the look your child gives you.
The gesture they make.
The sound they repeat.
The way they show you what they want without saying a word.

If you’re waiting for SLT support, you’re not stuck.
There is so much you can do at home that helps your child feel understood and confident.

Pausing.
Watching.
Joining their play.
Responding to their interests.

These small moments build communication just as powerfully as talking.
You’re already doing more than you realise.

If you’d like gentle guidance you can use while you wait, the Can‑Do Parent Path is here for you.
