Ahhh how nice to come into Ferrari's Coffee Roasters today and have the chance to catch up with the wonderful Esther from Hope Espresso. Esther is hot on the quality control and I am here verifying that the quality management system is still working as it should.
Been lovely to catch up. Having a coffee client means you drink too much coffee - cappuccino in front of me delivered by the wonderful Yash who owns the business. Do check out Ferrari’s coffee from Bridgend, Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
They were my first client 6 years ago when I went self employed and we’ve been on a pretty epic journey since!

What a wonderfully successful time in West Wales with my super hard working, successful and fun client

I decided to take the camper van over as this was just much more logical and I arrived to an amazing fire cooked belly pork and a couple of drinks to celebrate the wonderful Claire‘s birthday.

Had a lovely evening catching up and then the hard work started on Monday as we ploughed through a a mentally tiring day of SALSA certification internal auditing. It was a super useful day followed up with compiling our next steps and I look forward to end of the year of certification once the audit is carried out as they really do deserve all the exciting things they are experiencing because they work so hard and I have to say that I’m not just biased, but their chilli bacon jam is just mind blowing out out of this world and I really need to buy more of it when I run out but then I always wait and buy it when I get there 😂
It doesn’t last long in my house when the cheeseboard comes out! I honestly could just eat spoonfuls of it! 😋

I couldn’t wish for two nicer people to have a more exciting journey as they have taken so much care with their wonderful on site production unit. They transformed an old barn into the most spectacular production site and I just love being a little part of their exciting journey. 🌶️

Please do check out their amazing products as I honestly couldn’t shout louder for the amazing taste! 🌶️🥓
I’m so glad we get to work together as they really do want the best for everything. Well done on everything you achieve guys and if you did catch up with their wonderful products, you can obviously buy through their website, but they also attend many food shows around the country.

I don’t often celebrate what I do for a living or even think that it’s special sometimes, however my one client who I visit most frequently (who I hold very dear) was on Countryfile this evening and it made me realise how fresh produce has been such a big part of my life since the age of 17.
I left school, I went to study 3D design college (as I wanted to be a concept car designer). I realised just how competitive it was and how I was good but I wasn’t excellent, so I decided instead that I would go to work and money and just started packing fruit and veg on a production line.
Back in those days you were lucky if you did under 60 hours a week and I worked every weekend and every bank holiday (aside to every day in the week) and hated every moment of it.
I never had a life and I was always starting work at 6am and sometimes still there at 11pm.

However, I’ve learned that having shear grit and determination, a willing to work hard, and a vision and ambition meant that I made sure that I sit here now and watch my client on TV and realise that every day I go and visit them it’s doing something that I truly know enjoy and that is helping them and supporting them but working for myself. It made me smile seeing this on TV today knowing that it’s things like this that make it worthwhile. 🙂
I definitely never would’ve chosen the food industry and in all furnace there are so many other things that I I would absolutely love to do but now I’m way too old but my ‘roots’ are still there.
If you get a chance, check out Countryfile tonight that was based on the Vale
Of Evesham. It’s a great insight into the world that I work in and also my favourite vegetable
- asparagus 💜

Working as a technical consultant is so rewarding and so varied.
These days I don’t carry out quite so many audits and tend to help people more on site with their quality management systems. I love this part!
I thoroughly enjoy visiting my monthly clients as I help them verify their manufacturing systems, carry out internal audits on the BRCGS or SALSA systems, horizon scan, help with micro and residue sampling and generally help out where they might be a bit pushed.
There is nothing better than being part of a team and this is the part that I feel it’s the most rewarding. Even though I am Self-employed and Work primarily on my own, I am always part of a team.
