I really do love going to see Rose 🌹 every week, she regales me with the most incredible detailed stories of her past and I know how valuable our time together is! 💖🥂

When Darcey first met Rose, neither of them imagined just how special their friendship would become.

Now, their weekly visits are filled with laughter, stories and, of course, cake! From chatting about everyday life to reminiscing about the past, they can happily put the world to rights for hours. Rose loves sharing memories of her late husband, and Darcey always takes the time to listen.

They've even discovered connections from years gone by, including mutual acquaintances through their local church. Last Christmas, Darcey brought wreath-making supplies, and Rose enjoyed creating festive decorations with her granddaughters – making new memories together.

For Darcey, volunteering is just as rewarding.

"I love coming to visit Rose – it brightens my week."

Their friendship is a wonderful reminder that befriending isn't just about reducing loneliness – it's about building genuine relationships that enrich both lives.

I’ve been pretty quiet of late - just a lot of life admin with a very poorly family member and a well earned holiday ☀️

But I am back working and genuinely enjoying sharing amazing people’s stories as much as always 💜

Tomorrow however I’ve been baking like mad to support the amazing Rowans Hospice with a coffee morning at the lovely Knott Kinetics Ltd

Lawrence and I are running this event in honour of our beloved Nana Pat who leaves big baking shoes to fill!!
