Good morning, Earth Warriors 🌿✨
A little story from the moor.
The Dava Moor begins where I live. Once carefully stewarded, parts of this ancient landscape have changed hands over the years and, in places, nature has largely been left to find her own way.
The Dava is a peat moor a rare and precious ecosystem that quietly stores carbon, supports wildlife, and holds centuries of natural history beneath its surface.
Last year, during a training exercise, a fire broke out on the moor. The flames spread deep into the peat, burning for weeks across miles of land. Heather, trees, and countless small habitats were lost. The landscape was left blackened and silent, and for months the scent of smoke lingered in the air.
Watching such an ancient place suffer was heartbreaking.
Over the past few weeks, I've found myself returning to the moor again and again.
And something remarkable has happened.
The blackened earth has transformed. What once seemed lost is now covered in a blanket of snow pure white. Drawn closer, I discovered what looked like delicate cotton flowers dancing across the landscape bog cotton, flourishing where fire once raged.
Life has returned.
Not cautiously. Not sparingly.
It has bloomed.
The moor that was once charred and dark is now bright, soft, and full of promise. A powerful reminder that nature possesses an extraordinary capacity for renewal.
For me, the Dava Moor is living proof that the Earth is resilient beyond measure. Given time, respect, and space, she finds her way back.
So keep your warrior spirit strong, but let your heart stay light. Mother Earth has got this 💚
There is always hope in the places where new life chooses to grow. ✨🌿
