✨Closing of the bones ✨

I’ve recently come across the ‘closing of bones’ tradition and I thought what a beautiful way to support postpartum healing by physically closing
the body after pregnancy and birth.

During the ceremony the body is wrapped in shawls, using the shawls along with massage to release tension and encourage realignment. This also supports closing the pelvis which opens so much during pregnancy and birth.

The mother is given a much needed opportunity to feel nurtured and held in a space where she can thank
her body for all the wonderful work it has done, & release any unresolved emotions.

This ceremony is found in many cultures across the globe for postpartum women…. What a beautiful ceremony to heal & honour.

Ahhhh imagine!!!!!

That’s right…. A comb!

When you grip the comb in your hand {teeth inwards towards your palm} the comb hits certain acupuncture points in your hand. 🤲🏻

This is based on the gate control theory {The concept of the gate control theory is that non-painful input closes the gates to painful input, which results in prevention of the pain sensation from travelling to the central nervous system}

So in a nut shell because the brain can only focus on a number of sensations and the nerves in your hands are closer they reach your brain faster helping your body forget about contractions!

Lets talk induction 🗓

Induction is starting labour by artificial means… all the above are different forms of induction … (yes even a sweep 👆🏼)

Discussion for induction will typically start as early as 36weeks and definitely from 40weeks. Its always your choice to accept or decline an induction or negotiate another date!

Each step in the process is also your choice, you may accept or ask for an alternative method.
