Our Aim is to Preserve Blackshots Playing Field!
Our field was generously donated by his late Majesty King George V in 1938
We have a sign proudly displaying the origins of this historic gift, explicitly declaring the importance of “..promoting the use of the land for enjoyment of the people..”
We are the people.
We believe this statement was carefully worded with great consideration as a promise to be fulfilled through time.
Promises are promises for a reason.. let’s keep King George V’s promise alive for our community.

If you use it for community projects, exercise, games, to make a living, dog walking, for fitness, to picnic, play sports, to get fresh air, for education, to socialise or even just to sit and enjoy the weather.
“On 7th December 1938, it was declared that this field shall be preserved in perpetuity as a memorial to his late Majesty King George V, with the object of promoting playing fields, being open spaces used for the purpose of outdoor games, sports and pastimes for the use and enjoyment of the people.”
