Monday Morning Tickle ☺️

In terms of litter, today wasn't too bad considering the amount of footfall using the park over the weekend.

Although, the area around the weir took me longer than expected due to some items which had been thrown in over the last few days. After seeing what Zac and Kev removed on Thursday, it's become a bit of a hotspot. We will monitor it, but rest assured, any items will be removed within 48 hours.

Jennifer, Maria, Jo and Kev were our West Marsh Massive today and, coupled with the work of NELC on the park, it's all looking good 👍

Highlight of the morning was speaking with a local chap called Tony, who decided to have a nosey at the area he used to know as a child and a younger man. He felt a little uneasy about how everything had changed, so we had a chinwag about that, as change can be distressing for some. It was lovely to hear his memories and have a little natter about how the area used to be.

And, just to finish the job properly, all our items were taken away from the river and will be collected by the Cleansing team shortly, and our progress was recorded on the Cleanerwalks app 😊

Do NOT mess with a badger 🤣🦡

My friend Sammi called me to say that 'something was pooing' on the other side of her back gate.

I sensed her mild peril (and child like inquisitiveness🤣) , so i popped over with a wildlife cam.

Here's the result 🎥

Tetney Lock Tickle ☺️

This really is such a wonderful spot to take a bit of time out.

The sound of the water, swallows and kingfishers feeding over the surface, and the odd fish popping up for a gulp of air or to grab an insect from the top… it’s a top drawer bit of peace and quiet 💚

Sadly, this area can get mistreated from time to time.

Fortunately, we have some wonderful people who give it a good tidy every week, so thankfully it never gets the chance to build up too much.

I guess the message here is pretty simple… if you’re coming down to fish, take a walk, or simply park up and enjoy this special little area, please just show it a touch more respect. Take your rubbish home and leave it as you found it. 👍

🤣 Sorry for the winge… I don’t do it that often!

P.S. Check out the wonderful work of Jen, Zac and the team at Weelsby Woods today. Great work on a Sunday morning! 👏🌳

Look out litter... here come the woods family 👪

Thanks to your generosity, our fundraiser for litterpicking kits for kids has supplied yet another bunch of scallywags with the tools to make things tidier.

They are also primed and ready to log their endeavours on our CleanerWalks app.

How exciting ☺️

**EDIT** Only an hour after dropping the equipment off, they've already been on a pick and got a massive haul (see the last two photos)

P.S. Watch this space for a BIG roundup of all the new Cleanerwalks Kids

War Of The World's or nature?

For clarity, headphone man saw the funny side and is quite happy for me to share this.

He's not having his headphones back though 🤣

Behold, these two splendid street urchins!

Armed with litter pickers and possessed of an admirable sense of civic duty, Aaron and Oliver have taken it upon themselves to keep their very own street clean and tidy.

Mum got in touch to ask if we could supply them both with litterpicking kits
and when I turned up to get them kitted out, they told me that their mission is to make sure their own street is kept tidy.

There’s something admirable about that. Children often head out to litter pick in parks and open spaces, but Aaron and Oliver have decided to start right on their own doorstep, and taking pride in where they live.
Hopefully it will inspire others and send a strong message to litter louts!

Also, they’ll be able to scan and record all their amazing work on our CleanerWalks app.

Keep up the good work, lads.

Good on ya Jen 👏 ☺️

My mate Jen isnt sat on her laurals in between her nature well-being sessions at Jens Den Nature Retreat, she's rolling up her sleeves.

Litter has always been an issue in parks and Weelsby Woods is a good example, especially with it's hidden copses and numerous pathways which intertwine.

I know that Zac and a good handful of others try and keep on top of it, but it will sadly always be an ongoing issue.

Jen is grabbing some pickers and I know Lisa at the Treehouse Cafe & Ices Weelsby Woods has some if you want to lend a hand.

To enhance the experience, you can also log your pick on CleanerWalks and report anything untoward.

Google www.cleanerwalks.co.uk and have a play about with the app.

Thank you to EVERYONE who chipped in 🙏

A little while ago, I shared a post about a donation from the Number 1 Pub 🍻

I said at the time that, rather than putting it towards my usual work, I wanted to use it for something a bit different.
I decided to do some guided canoe trips for people who might be struggling a bit and could benefit from some time out. I had done these before and know how much they helped.

This time, though, because the money was given to me to use as I thought best, I decided to use it to take people I already knew through my activities and wider circle. Dare I say it, but it seems that we all carry some weight on our shoulders these days 😔

Well, im pleased to say, that the sessions went really well.

Each trip was different. Some people wanted a good old chinwag (im your man for that 🤣) and some just wanted a few hours away from everything.
Taking time out in nature and doing something you've perhaps not done before can be so beneficial.

So, thank you to everyone at the Number 1 Pub who helped raise the funds 🙌

You gave me the opportunity to do something a little different with the money, and it genuinely made a difference 👍
