Clients always say “your gloves are pink!” One of the perks of buying your own kit is getting to ditch blue gloves - dopamine glove buying!

Anyway this weekend is being spent crabbing with Arthur and the gloves are having a different sort of day, because I refuse to touch bait bare handed 🤮

So far, August has been BUSY!

Probably my fault for saying out loud “August will be quite quiet work wise, so I’ll be off with the kids a lot” - not that I’m complaining because I thankfully absolutely love what I do!

Since I got back from holiday at the beginning of August I’ve had 2 births in the same week, 21 postnatal visits and 11 antenatal visits, 4 visits to HQ for postnatal courses or a sling library plus lots of hours on the phone to clients!

When I worked in the NHS I would never imagine that each of those visits would take 2+ hours and that I get called “auntie Sophie” by lovely clients. Or that I’d have the privilege of being with someone in labour from start to finish after knowing them for 7/8 months and hearing how it made all the difference to their experience ❤️

Anyway, I’m going to spend 3 days being in summer holiday mode as it’s been so unexpectedly busy, so will be MIA for a bit while I spend time with Arthur! ☀️

Then back to lots of antenatal and postnatal visits next week, seeing some of my autumn birth clients and all of my postnatal caseload with their lush new babies ❤️

I’m doing lots of standalone postnatal care at the moment, which is really lovely!

Postnatal care with me (whether you’ve had antenatal/birth care with me or not) generally includes:

- Care for up to 6 weeks with all appointments in your own home – no trekking to clinics

- A plan for visits in that time that works for you and your family

- Making sure we optimise your postnatal recovery, physically and emotionally

- Coordinating with other professionals to make sure all of your needs are met

- Expert support with your feeding goals

- Holistic support around your transition to being a parent or new dynamics with older siblings

- Making sure you are confident using slings and carriers safely and comfortably with my background as a babywearing consultant (plus you can try whatever you want from our extensive sling library!)

- Plus, you have me on WhatsApp with any questions between appointments

We’ve added course dates right through to 2027 for our High Wycombe antenatal courses!

Based at Hughenden Village Hall on weekend mornings and led by a local midwife, our courses help you feel prepared for life with a baby as well as giving birth!

Our August course is fully booked but you would be super welcome on an Autumn 2026 or early 2027 course!

Expecting a baby? Join one of our midwife led antenatal courses in Wendover!

Our July antenatal group finished last weekend and they were such a fab group, with brilliant questions (which we love) and pub lunches after sessions in Wendover!

Our August antenatal course in the mornings is fully booked but we have a few spaces left on the August afternoon course that we added due to popular demand!

Dates: 8th - 23rd August 2-5.30pm on weekend afternoons

Our September antenatal course also has just 2 spaces left - for if you’re due a bit later!

We managed to get a photo that I can post (no kids on socials!)

Robyn doesn’t seem keen on the “I ❤️ my wife” t shirts I’m seeing everywhere but I think they’d be excellent to wear to births together 😂😂 thoughts?!

Still absolutely pinching myself that The Village Midwife (aka my little business that I started 8 years ago with a baby in tow…) won ‘Best Wellbeing Specialist’ in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire! ⭐️

I’m so grateful to everyone in TVM community who voted for us, what an absolutely amazing client base we have!

We’ve got lots on at HQ in Wendover! I embraced the rainbow in pride month with some new leaflets to try and show all of the different courses we run 🌈
