After surgery the body does not only heal muscles.
It also has to restore:🕵️♀️
• circulation,
• tissue hydration,
• fluid exchange,
• fascial glide,
• nervous system safety.
Modern research on fascia and connective tissue shows that healthy tissues depend on movement of fluids inside the extracellular matrix.
When swelling, inflammation, or immobility increase,
tissues may become:
• stiff,
• sensitive,
• less adaptable,
• less efficient in sliding.
This is one reason why aggressive deep tissue work is often contraindicated in early post-surgical recovery.
The tissues may not yet tolerate high mechanical load.
Manual lymphatic drainage works differently.
Its goal is not to force tissue change,
but to support:
fluid movement
superficial circulation
recovery environment,
nervous system regulation.
Sometimes healing tissue needs less force
and more flow.
