👇🏼 5 signs you might be in survival mode (and not even realise it):
We often associate survival mode with chaos or crisis. But for many people, it looks much quieter — and much more chronic.
Here are some subtle signs you may be stuck in survival mode 👇🏼
😴 You wake up already feeling exhausted. Even if you’ve slept, your mind feels foggy, your body feels heavy, and everything feels like too much.
😕You’re emotionally flat… or on edge. You find it hard to connect to joy, and even small setbacks trigger frustration or overwhelm.
🤷♀️You struggle to make simple decisions. Choosing what to eat, replying to a message, or prioritising tasks feels impossible.
✔️You live in ‘just get through it’ mode. You’re ticking boxes, meeting deadlines, doing the things—but you’re not living, you’re just coping.
😷Your body is showing the strain. Digestive issues, tension headaches, muscle pain, or clenching your jaw are all physical ways your nervous system says: I’m not safe yet.
Survival mode is a brilliant short-term response to stress. But when we get stuck there for too long, it affects our health, our relationships, and our sense of self.
Therapy offers a space to pause.
To process what’s happened, build tools for regulation, and move from just surviving to truly living.
