Most women think they need to eat less and exercise more.

But after 40...

That often backfires.

Eating too little leaves you exhausted.

Doing endless cardio doesn't help you preserve muscle.

Instead...

Lift weights.
Eat enough protein.
Walk daily.
Sleep as well as you can.
Consistency beats extremes every single time.

5 YEARS AGO, I WOULD NEVER HAVE EATEN THIS ICE CREAM.

And no… it wasn’t because I didn’t like ice cream.
It was because I was scared of it...
Scared of the calories.
Scared of gaining weight.
Scared that one treat would undo all my hard work.

I spent far too many years believing that being healthy meant being disciplined enough to say no.
No to the ice cream.
No to the cake.
No to the meal out.
No to enjoying food without calculating what it might “cost” me.

And the sad thing?

I thought that was what being healthy looked like - mind blowing I know 🤯

Now I know better.

This ice cream represents freedom ✌️

Freedom from guilt.
Freedom from food rules.
Freedom from the all-or-nothing mindset.
Freedom from believing I have to punish myself for enjoying something. And I love it!

I still train hard.
I still prioritise protein.
I still care about my health, strength and body composition.

But I now also LIVE.

And that’s something I want more women to understand, especially as we navigate our 40s, 50s and beyond.

You don't need to spend the rest of your life fighting your body or fearing food.

You can become stronger.
You can feel better.
You can support your changing body.
And you can eat the bloody ice cream (but maybe not every night).

Because a healthy lifestyle should give you more freedom, not less.

That’s the kind of health I now believe in.

If you’re ready to stop constantly “starting again” and find a healthier, more balanced approach, this is exactly the kind of work I help women with.

You don’t need another restrictive diet. You need a way of living that you can work with 🤍

Try 60 seconds of slow breathing before you start your day.

If you have not yet factored regular breath work into your life, try this. It's quick and effortless.

Before you reach for your phone, coffee or another distraction, take one minute of slow, relaxed breathing. Sometimes your nervous system needs calming before your brain can think clearly.

If I could give every woman over 40 just one piece of advice...

I'd tell her to strength train.

Not because it's about getting a six-pack.

Because muscle changes everything.

It supports your metabolism.

Strengthens your bones.

Improves balance.

Helps regulate blood sugar.

Boosts confidence.

Makes everyday life easier.

It's one of the best investments you can make in your future health. Lots of reasons.

It's never too late to start, and you don't have to become a bodybuilder - just start getting stronger.

If you are interested in getting stronger and growing in confidence get in touch.

Feeling stresed or anxious?

Prioritise what really needs done, day by day and take away the overwhelm.

Have you noticed that what used to work just doesn't seem to anymore?

You're exercising, you're trying to eat well, but your body feels completely different.

And it’s' probably not because you're lazy or not trying hard enough.

During perimenopause our hormones change, which affects muscle mass, metabolism and where we store body fat.

That doesn't mean you're stuck, it simply means your strategy needs to change.

Prioritise strength training, eat enough protein, manage stress and be consistent.

You need to support your body not punish your it.

I've said it soooo many times - our bedtime routine starts in the morning.

Good sleep isn't just about what you do at night. Get daylight, move your body and keep your wake-up time fairly consistent. Our body needs routine.

But if you have had a rubbish night's sleep (very common, so you are not alone) don't spend the whole day worrying about tonight's sleep. Get up, follow your normal routine and focus on what you can control.

Then you create a ‘wind-down’ window at night, by giving yourself at least 30 minutes before bed where you aren't trying to achieve anything. Dim the lights, put the phone down, read, stretch or do breathing meditation. Telling your body we're done for today let's rest and restore.

Sleep isn’t just “rest”—it’s one of the main regulators of your hormonal system.

When sleep is off, hormones tend to follow.

Don’t wait until you’re exhausted to eat

If you regularly get to 3pm absolutely starving and ready to hit the biscuit tin, look at your earlier meals.

Protein, fibre and some healthy fats can help keep you fuller and your energy steadier which will stop you from snacking.

Think eggs, omelette (with veggies) or yoghurt for breakfast, tuna salad (and veggies) with a light dressing of avocados oil for lunch.
