Your friends love you. 💕But they’re not trained to hold everything you carry. 🤍
Talking to a friend can give you comfort, reassurance, a laugh, a “you’re not crazy” text at 11pm. And that stuff matters so much. We all need people who know us personally and sit beside us in hard moments.
Therapy is different though. 🦋
A therapist isn’t there to just agree with you or tell you what you want to hear. We’re listening for the patterns underneath the story. The coping mechanisms. The relationship dynamics. The parts of you that learned to survive a certain way.
Sometimes therapy looks like:– finally saying the thing you’ve never said out loud– understanding why you react the way you do– learning boundaries without guilt– realising your anxiety didn’t come from nowhere– unlearning survival modes that no longer serve you– feeling supported without worrying you’re “too much”
And honestly? One of the biggest differences is this:In therapy, the space is completely about you.You don’t have to filter, minimise, people-please, or take care of the other person’s feelings while you talk.
Friends are important. Therapy is important. They just serve different purposes — and you deserve both. 🦋
If you’ve been thinking about therapy for a while - reach out. There is no pressure, no commitment. Just ask the questions you want to ask and go from there 💕
