Most people think better health comes from one big decision.

A new gym membership.
A detox.
A 30-day challenge.
The “perfect” exercise.

But real change rarely works like that.

✅ A 10-minute walk.
✅ Drinking another glass of water.
✅ Going to bed 30 minutes earlier.
✅ Standing up from your desk.
✅ Doing the exercises you said you’d do.
✅ Taking a few deep breaths when life feels overwhelming.

💥 HURT vs HARM 💥

One of the biggest myths I hear in clinic is…

🗣️ “If it hurts, I must be damaging it.”

The reality? Pain and damage are NOT the same thing.

🏃‍♂️ When you’re recovering from an injury, starting a new exercise programme, or returning to the gym, it’s completely normal to experience some discomfort.

✅ GOOD HURT
🟠 Mild to moderate
🟠 Comes and goes
🟠 Settles with movement or rest
🟠 Doesn’t stop you moving well

This is often your body adapting and becoming stronger 💪🏽

🚨 WARNING SIGNS
🔸 Pain is building during exercise
🔸 It’s still there the next day
🔸 You’re changing how you move to avoid it

🛑 STOP & REASSESS
🔴 Pain is severe
🔴 It’s getting worse rather than better
🔴 You notice weakness, loss of function, or you’re limping and compensating

The goal isn’t to avoid all pain…

🎯 The goal is to find the right amount of challenge so your body and nervous system can gradually build confidence, tolerance and resilience.

Remember:
➡️ Movement is medicine, but dosage matters.

Healing takes time ⏳

One of the biggest frustrations I see in practice is when someone starts feeling better… then has a flare-up and thinks they’ve gone backwards.

The reality?

Recovery is rarely a straight line 📈

You may have good days, harder days, setbacks, and breakthroughs all within the same week.

That doesn’t always mean you’re causing damage or undoing your progress.

Often, your body is adapting, learning, and becoming more resilient over time 💪🏽

Whether it’s back pain, neck pain, sciatica, headaches, shoulder pain, or a sports injury, lasting improvement usually comes from a combination of:

✅ Time
✅ Consistency
✅ Movement
✅ Recovery
✅ The right guidance

The goal isn’t perfection.

The goal is to build a body that’s stronger, more confident, and more adaptable than it was before 🙌🏽

If you’re currently on your recovery journey, keep going. Small steps repeated consistently often lead to the biggest changes.
