Today’s 1:1 Montessori session ☕️

We practised spooning coffee beans into jars, using a clear visual line as a guide.

When people move into care settings, opportunities to do things for themselves can sometimes reduce. We can’t stop dementia from progressing, but we can create opportunities to continue using the skills and abilities that are still there.

Pouring a drink, serving yourself, filling something to a level — these ordinary moments can help maintain a sense of purpose, independence and dignity.

It’s not about whether they can do it perfectly. It’s about giving them the opportunity to do it. ❤️

A lovely visit to Parc y Llyn💚

Today was all about meaningful activities, gentle encouragement and creating opportunities for choice, independence and connection.

From puzzles and fine-motor activities to creating a beautiful floral arrangement, every activity offered the chance to engage in a way that felt purposeful and enjoyable.

To respect residents’ privacy, I’ve chosen to share only photographs of hands engaged in the activities — because sometimes a simple moment of involvement can say so much.

This Friday, I’ll be attending Fishguard Show N.P.F.C with Montessori for Later Life Pembrokeshire—and it will be my very first show as a business owner!

When conversation becomes difficult, connection can still be possible. 🌿

Visiting a loved one living with dementia can sometimes feel challenging, especially when it becomes harder to know what to talk about or how to spend meaningful time together.

A simple, familiar activity can create another way to connect. Whether it’s matching socks, arranging flowers, exploring familiar objects or completing a puzzle together, the activity can provide a shared focus and take away some of the pressure to keep a conversation going.

Meaningful activities can also offer opportunities for choice, independence, participation and a sense of purpose. They allow the person to be involved in the moment and to share an experience with the people who matter to them.

Sometimes, connection isn’t always found through words—it can be found through doing something together. 💚
