This drill is tough but effective you must try it if you’re constantly fighting back pain.

Make sure you also try to raise the heel of the elevated foot higher whilst keeping the leg straight. It will force even more activation and balance.

If you’re willing to push through the failures on this I promise you it works ok!

Rowing is such a good way to train all over here

Learn from me how to be a better rower. Im no Olympian but I’ve rowed for over 4 years in a university setting.

No.1 - the foot plate in this setting allows you to get a better angle on the ball of your foot to apply more power 💥

No.2 - The resistance means the rate of which the air slows the fan! It doesn’t mean you’re a better rower it makes you less efficient! Trust me stick with 6-7. 📈

No.3 - have a plan. Go for the same distance or workout you’ve done before and beat it. Being random on here doesn’t help you get fitter. ✍️

Has this helped you?!?

Keep your weekends semi-active where you can.

I’m not a fat loss coach but looking after what you do outside of your gym sessions can be what makes the difference to your recovery and your overall body composition.

I really enjoyed this trip.

“…Now I can’t wait to build a gym of my own with kettlebells at the centre.”

Oystein is a client of mine and I want to introduce his story. Whilst kettlebells is one of my huge strengths it’s not my only tool for getting the job done.

For years, Oystein had been on and off with the gym and jogging.

He could stay motivated for a while, but struggled to maintain momentum.

He wanted someone to help him:

• Stay accountable
• Train effectively
• Build consistency
• Invest in himself

An old bicep injury had been limiting his strength for years.

He’d become so used to the weakness that he didn’t realise it wasn’t normal.

So we adapted his training around his recovery and connected him with the right specialist.

In fact, Oystein says he was a little intimidated by them.

He also assumed injury rehabilitation wasn’t something he needed.

He was wrong about both.

Kettlebells helped Oystein:

→ Make training more engaging
→ Develop whole-body strength
→ Feel a greater sense of mastery
→ Become more confident training independently

…with kettlebells as the main part.

That’s a pretty big change from someone who initially wasn’t sure kettlebells were for him.

“We always have great conversations, which makes the hour fly by.”

“It’s like going to the gym with a friend.”

— Oystein

So unfortunately, our in-person sessions have to come to an end.

But he’s continuing with online with me as his coach.

Because the goal isn’t to make you dependent on your PT.

It’s to give you the knowledge, confidence and momentum to keep progressing.

“Working with JJ has made a real difference. He’s knowledgeable, adaptable and genuinely invested in helping you succeed. Every session is tailored to your goals, schedule and how you’re feeling, while still being enjoyable — it’s like going to the gym with a friend.

I’m now moving away from Hinckley, so I’m sad our in-person sessions are ending, but I’m excited to continue with JJ through online coaching, with him as my personal support as I become more independent with my training.

I’d strongly recommend JJ to anyone looking for a coach who genuinely cares about helping you progress.”

Zoe’s head will explode with this but it’s all true. She works so hard to get to where she wants to be today.

There are no short cuts to your goals. Do the work.

Show up when you don’t want to.

Be a good student.

Spots VERY LIMITED for 1:1 coaching if at all.

Happy four year anniversary to my gorgeous wife

You are the most amazing wife and mother. How has four years flown by so fast? We should have been married for another two, but life is short and unpredictable, and it’s very easy to become under appreciative. So thank you for everything. Thank you for always being there for me, I am very lucky.

I don’t normally post about personal things, but I think it’s important to recognise your personal supporter in the shadows, who’s supporting you unconditionally.

Praveen has been a regular gym goer for a long time. It wasn’t that he wasn’t trying. He just didn’t know how to use the gym to its full potential. He thought he was doing the right thing, and he lacked a bit of confidence around the weights. Staying active was probably preventing long term health conditions, but he wasn’t getting the most out of his membership.

Praveen works hard, and we have built a strong relationship. He is now one and a half to two times stronger across his lifts. His deadlift started at 35kg and he is now working well above 70. His shoulder press is over double where he began. His weight has come down.

The part that matters most though is what it has given him outside the gym. Picking up his kids, playing with them, everyday life, all of it feels easier. That is one of the real gifts of strength. Your everyday function improves because the same task takes less of your capacity. You are simply stronger, so it costs you less.

Strength work, some higher intensity cardiovascular work alongside it (to a point, not on its own), proper warm ups and stretching to stay mobile. Put those together and you become a far more rounded individual.

Try not to let yourself get years into training without some support. Investing in your health now might be the best decision you ever make. Five years from now you will know exactly what you are doing, and you will have got far more out of your gym membership than waiting and hoping you are doing the right thing.

Ram came to me with a deep training history and strong motivation. He wanted to get back to his best, and then push beyond it.

Life had been strenuous and challenging, and that became one of the biggest barriers he had to work through to get results. So together we focused on lifestyle choices he could actually sustain while things were hard. We found what was achievable, and we got his head into the right space to push forward.

As a coach, that part is critical. My job is to facilitate and guide, but to let the client make their own decisions. That’s where real, lasting change comes from.

Be awesome, and hold yourself accountable. The rest follows.

Keep showing up 💪

Rachel came to me nervous about training in a gym environment — it was all fairly new to her.

We started by building confidence in the basics and working on the areas that needed attention. What we discovered pretty quickly? She’s actually really strong. With consistent, focused work she’s built a level of resilience that’s been brilliant to watch.

I come to work every day with one intention — to help people become the best version of themselves. That genuinely gives me joy. Rachel is exactly the kind of client that reminds me why I do this.

But here’s the truth: you have to show up, even when you don’t want to. I provide the key — but you have to be the one to turn it.

Be like Rachel. 💪🏻
