The children have had a great time playing in the sandpit recently. We discovered that we could bury our hands and feet in the sand. It felt very strange when we wiggled our toes and fingers!
We used the spades and spoons to pour sand into the molds to make lots of different shapes.
Staff even got the hose out to wet the sand even more to allow us to make really good sandcastles. We took great pleasure in tapping the top of the bucket and then knocking the sandcastles over.

The children really enjoyed our muddy car wash in the garden today. They used a variety of different things to clean the cars. These included sponges, toothbrushes, paint brushes and their own hands. We talked about which cleaned the cars the best.

They enjoyed making bubbly water and having a good old splash around!

We shared stories and experiences of going to the car wash with our families.

Today we have had lots of fun painting ice! We used different ways to get the paint onto the ice. These included pipets, brushes, spray bottles, sponges and even our hands and fingers!

We talked about the properties of ice and how it was smooth and very cold! We each took it in turns to feel the cold water on our faces!

We also talked about what type of animals live near the ice and then included them in our play.

The Baby Room have been busy exploring a solar eclipse-themed tuff tray! 🌌✨

The babies enjoyed investigating different coloured shaving foam alongside a variety of textures, including soft cotton balls and fluffy pom poms. They used their index fingers to make marks and patterns in the foam, developing their fine motor skills while enjoying this sensory experience.

Our adults introduced new descriptive words such as β€œsoft” and β€œsticky” to help the babies explore and understand the different textures they were experiencing.

We also included planets for the babies to explore. They enjoyed looking at, touching and scrunching the planets, showing lots of interest in the different sounds they made as they were squeezed and explored.

With the solar eclipse making an entrance later on tonight, we thought we would explore into the world of space.
We have explored different planets, ( especially earth) looked at lots of shooting stars and most importantly we have painted our very own solar eclipse!
The children thoroughly enjoyed seeing and discussing Earth finding it fascinating to talk about.
Through various activities involving space the children have strengthened their knowledge and further developed their understanding of the world.

Whilst the weather has been cooler, we have taken full advantage and have had lots of fun in the garden!
We have explored the garden, strengthening our gross motor skills by climbing, running and jumping!
We have used nature's resources to do some "baking" We have made a cake with candles (we even pretended to blow out the candles!)
and also some cookies on a baking tray!
One of our favourite games to play in the garden is "hide and seek" we are very good at hiding, even though we end up giggling and giving our hiding spaces away.
Can't wait to see what we get up to next.

🧸For many families, it's this close-knit atmosphere that makes Allsorts feel different.

Children aren't simply part of the nursery, they're part of a small community where they are known, valued and encouraged to be themselves every day.

If you're looking for a nursery with a truly personal feel, we'd love to welcome you for a visit πŸ‘‡

Today the children enjoyed a wonderful outdoor painting activity, using paintbrushes, sponges, and their hands to decorate our tyres with bright, colourful paint.

The children explored their creativity by experimenting with mixing different colours together, discovering the new colours they could create. This hands on activity encouraged curiosity, imagination, and supported their understanding of colour recognition.

Later in the day, the children took part in a fun clean-up activity by washing the tyres with bubbly water. They loved splashing, scrubbing, and watching the paint wash away.

Today our children enjoyed a wonderful adventure as we took a walk to the Snap Dragon Festival!

Along the way, we spotted lots of exciting things including the police station, buses picking up passengers, and even a friendly postman. We talked about everything we could see as we explored our local community.

When we arrived at the festival, our first stop was the duck pond where we counted 6 ducks swimming together. The children enjoyed talking about the different colours they could see before making their way to the park. They had lots of fun on the swings and both the big and little slides, showing fantastic patience by waiting for their turns so nicely.

One of the highlights of the day was meeting the local emergency services! πŸš‘πŸš“ We spotted an ambulance and a police car, and the wonderful crews invited the children to sit inside the vehicles with the flashing lights on. We talked about how ambulances help people when they are poorly or injured, and the friendly police officer kindly gave each child a sticker to take home.

After all the excitement, we found a shady spot to enjoy a well-earned drink before heading into the soft play tots tent for even more fun!

On our walk back to nursery, we stopped at the local shop where the children each chose a biscuit as a special treat. They waited patiently in the queue, helped to pay for their biscuits, and enjoyed them at lunchtime.

What a fantastic day full of community exploration, learning, and lots of smiles! 🌟😊
