Hello, my lovelies. How are we all? No, really. How often do we just say ‘I’m ok’ without meaning it?
I’ve been super quiet (again, sorry) as things have been challenging these last couple of weeks. In the interest of full disclosure, I’ve had a health scare that has rocked me to my core. I’m still awaiting test results, so mentally I’m trying to stay grounded until I know for sure what is going on. Combined with the CrossFit Open - something I’ve had as a goal these last four months - it’s been a challenging couple of weeks.
Getting back to my initial point, I hadn’t realised how much I’d been putting a smile on my face and forcing myself to get on with things without acknowledging how I was actually feeling until I met a good friend for lunch on Friday. As I said out loud what was going on, the tears started.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m an emotional little thing sometimes, but I’m a bit of an armadillo - hard on the outside, soft on the inside, so most people only know my exterior and assume I’m hard the whole way through. Thankfully my friend knows better and gave my hard exterior a big hug and slowly pieced me back together over coffee and lunch.
The point is, it’s ok to not be ok - but please reach out to someone. We underestimate how much people are ready to listen, and would rather you reached out than suffered alone. I’ve had it all this year - minor surgery, heartache, health scare, injury, loneliness, existential crisis. So, if you feel you have no-one to reach out to, or just feel you need to vent at someone outside your circle, I’m always here. Just drop me a DM. I promise to respond.
My message is this though - whatever it is that’s challenging you right now, you got this. And you WILL get through it. As will I ❤️ x
