For more than 30 years, I have supported women who are trying to conceive naturally, preparing for IVF, going through fertility treatment or coming to me following miscarriage or unsuccessful IVF treatments.

By the time many women reach me, they have already been through a great deal, both physically and emotionally. This is why my first step is always to understand the whole picture. Fertility support is never about following the same treatment plan for every woman.

I look at your menstrual cycle, medical and fertility history, diet, sleep, stress levels, previous surgery and what is happening in your life. Miscarriage can be a very traumatic experience and can leave the nervous system in a heightened, adrenalised state, so the emotional impact of what you have gone through is also an important part of your personalised treatment plan.

Fertility tui na is one of the specialist ways I support my patients. It is a hands-on Chinese medicine therapy that allows me to work directly with the lower abdomen and to improve blood flow to the uterus and help with any scar tissue or any adhesions that may create restrictions in blood flow and impact implantation.
I also use specific tui na techniques designed to warm the lower abdomen, ease tightness and encourage circulation through the pelvic area.

I combine fertility tui na with acupuncture, nutritional and lifestyle guidance and support for the nervous system. This allows me to care for the whole person, not simply focus on one symptom or one stage of fertility treatment.

If you are looking for experienced, personalised fertility acupuncture and tui na support, please get in touch.

What will your harvest be this Late Summer?

Due to our exceptionally warm weather, nature is moving earlier this year. Blackberries are starting to appear, conkers are forming on the trees and the fields are already golden and being harvested.

In Chinese medicine, Late Summer is associated with the Earth element and the time of harvest. It is a natural opportunity to reflect and to consider whether your ideas, plans or intentions have come to fruition? Do you feel nourished by what you have created, or are you feeling disconnected, unsettled or unsure of where you are heading?

The Earth element gives us our internal grounding. When it is out of balance, worry can take over and we may feel unearthed, lack clarity or unable to process our thoughts clearly. Our natural rhythms can also become disrupted, affecting our digestion, breathing and sleep.

The world can feel particularly destabilising in these current times, so it is important to find simple ways to reconnect and ground with the earth beneath us. Try standing barefoot on the grass, sitting quietly on a warm rock or boulder which are representatives of the stability of the earth. Try to eat nourishing seasonal foods such as root vegetables and avoid ice in your drinks which cools the stomach too much and effects your digestion. Give yourself time to breathe slowly and to deeply reconnect with your internal Earth element.

Acupuncture and tui na can help strengthen and rebalance your Earth element within, with a deeply grounding effect that can calm the nervous system and help you feel safer and more settled.

Late Summer invites us to slow down, take stock and make sure we get the nourishment we need.

What is your harvest this year? And what might help you feel more rooted as the seasons begin to change?

Longevity Acupuncture

Did you know regular monthly sessions of acupuncture and tui na can be used for longevity and anti-ageing purposes? Specific points are used to regulate the flow of qi in the organs; calm the nervous system and reduce inflammation in the body and reduce stress all of which can have an ageing effect on the body and your internal systems.

Treatment can be focused on points that support adrenal recovery, digestion, sleep and your circulation, all of which will help your body to deal better with the stresses of modern life.

Poppies are one of the first signs that Summer is arriving, bringing splashes of vibrant red to our countryside and reminding us of the season's themes of growth, abundance, and connection.

In Chinese Medicine, Summer is associated with the Fire element and the Heart. When Fire is balanced, we may experience a sense of joy, ease, and connection with others. But not everyone feels this way at this time of year. If you're finding yourself feeling disconnected, restless, low in mood, or struggling to experience joy, it can sometimes be a sign that your Fire element needs a little support.

The natural world offers gentle reminders of the season's energy. The poppies bloom without force or striving, simply expressing their nature. Perhaps they invite us to do the same — to notice what is present, nurture what needs attention, and allow ourselves to receive the warmth and abundance that Summer can offer, in our own time.

When choosing an acupuncturist, it is always important to see if their skills and areas of expertise align with your own individual requirements.

For me, when working with somebody, it is never a case of one size fits all, and I rarely use standard, set treatment protocols. Instead it is about listening carefully, understanding what your body needs and drawing on my many years of experience to provide a truly personalised treatment plan for you.

Perimenopause can affect women in many different ways.

For some it is anxiety, poor sleep and overwhelm. For others it is hot flushes, irritability, low mood, fatigue, headaches or a feeling that their body is suddenly more reactive and less settled than it used to be.

This often happens because the hormonal fluctuations of perimenopause can leave the nervous system feeling more heightened and the body in a more adrenalised state.

Perimenopause is one of the most important stages in a woman’s life, and looking after your health during this transition is crucial if you want to move into menopause in a more balanced and supported way.

This is why it is important to take an individual approach with every patient.

I create a personalised treatment plan based on your symptoms, your cycle, your health history and what your body needs at that time.

Alongside acupuncture, I also use tui na as part of treatment. Tui na can be especially helpful during perimenopause because it helps to calm the nervous system, reduce tension and restore hormonal balance to take you out of an adrenalised state. Used together, acupuncture and tui na can help you feel more settled, more supported and better able to cope with any hormonal changes.

My aim is always to help you feel understood, supported and more like yourself again. Please get in touch if you would like to find out more.

Spring is the season of rebirth, possibility and hope. In Chinese medicine, it’s associated with awakening, creativity and the natural urge to grow — much like plants pushing up through the soil after winter.

But spring growth requires lots of energy, and if your system is run down, that sense of renewal and rebirth after the winter can often feel out of reach.

When the body is depleted, spring can bring frustration, fatigue, or a feeling of being stuck rather than inspired, sometimes leading to depression and anxiety.

Acupuncture supports this important seasonal shift by helping to restore your energy, improve circulation and encourage the smooth flow of qi throughout the body. Acupuncture and tui na work with your system, so your energy can return naturally.

Think of acupuncture as creating the internal conditions needed for your own spring to emerge. When your reserves are supported, your clarity, drive and vitality have the space to unfold. Spring isn’t something to force yourself into — it’s something that arises naturally when your body is ready.

In Chinese medicine, late winter is a bridge between deep rest and the rising energy of spring. This is a powerful time to gently clear stagnation in the body, restore balance and prepare yourself for the more active months ahead.

Acupuncture supports this natural transition by helping to encourage healthy circulation, regulate stress and improve sleep so you feel refreshed rather than depleted as spring approaches.

Tui na complements this beautifully by calming the nervous system and creating space for the body to let go of held tension — both physical and emotional. Stopping being constantly on the go, allows your system to reset, making it easier to meet the new season with clarity and vitality.

This February, consider self-care as a priority as taking the time now to look after your health is an investment in how you’ll feel in the months ahead.

Winter can be a challenging season for our bodies and minds, with shorter days, colder temperatures and a faster pace of life that doesn’t always slow down with the season. Chinese medicine views winter as a time to protect our energy, support the nervous system and build resilience for the months ahead.

Acupuncture is especially helpful in winter for supporting immunity, regulating stress and keeping the body’s systems working smoothly when we’re more vulnerable to fatigue and illness. Treatments can help you feel more balanced, grounded and better able to adapt to seasonal demands.

Tui na plays an equally important role. Rather than being only about deep muscle work, it can gently signal the nervous system to settle and reset. This calming effect can help improve sleep, reduce anxiety and help the body shift out of constant “fight or flight mode”, which is especially valuable during the darker winter months.

By working with the season instead of against it, acupuncture and tui na can help you move through winter feeling supported, peaceful, steady and well.
