It's National Meditation Day, although all days are meditation days for me.
What is meditation?
It’s not about emptying your mind, that is next to impossible to do. It’s about observing it without judgment or connecting with the thoughts for that period of time.
For those that think meditation isn't for them, there are many types of meditation and I would be surprised if you couldn't find a type for you. For instance, I have maybe managed to follow a guided meditation 3 or 4 times in 25 years, it just doesn't work for me but many people have excellent results that way. I much prefer chanting (especially in a group - oh wow the energy!!) hence the picture of my ancient mala beads. I also love a mantra meditation and I also like drumming trance tracks and raising energy in a seething movement.
However you do it, do it. Meditation is the practice of turning inward, finding calm amidst chaos, and creating space for clarity, balance, and peace. You are basically having yourself a minute.
Briefly though, while you are here...
✨ Take 5 minutes.
✨ Close your eyes.
✨ Breathe deeply.
✨ Just be.
Whether you're new to meditation or a lifelong practitioner, today is your reminder to BE. Be at peace with your mind, body and spirit.
