There is a lot of pressure online to prove that we are busy, that we are trusted, that we are attending births.

But birth support is not about proving anything to the internet.

When a family invites me into their birth space, I am being trusted with something deeply personal.

I don't know who is watching my stories. I don't know who knows my client, who they have told, or who they haven't told yet.

Even sharing "I'm at a birth" can reveal something that was never mine to announce.

My clients choose when their story is shared.
Until then, it stays theirs.

Because the greatest privilege isn't showing the world the births I attend.

It's being trusted enough that families know I will protect them when nobody else is watching.

"It's easy to say a doula isn't worth it..."

Until you've seen what happens when a family has someone by their side every step of the way.

A doula isn't there to replace midwives or doctors. We work alongside them, filling the gaps that an overstretched maternity system simply can't always fill.

We're there for the late-night questions. We're there when plans change. We're there when a partner needs reassurance.

We're there when feeding feels overwhelming. We're there when a new mum needs someone to remind her that she's doing an incredible job.

Behind every birth is a family who deserves to feel informed, heard and supported.

This isn't about luxury. It's about continuity of care, evidence-based information, emotional support and someone who truly knows your story.

No family should have to navigate pregnancy, birth or the postpartum period feeling alone. 🤍

✨ Have you ever worked with a doula or considered hiring one? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Those newborn cuddles are not “doing nothing”. They are the work. ❤️

A mother’s body has just grown, birthed and begun feeding a new human. Her nervous system is adjusting, her hormones are shifting, and she is building the foundations of a lifelong bond.

The dishes can wait. The laundry can wait.
But this tiny baby will never be this tiny again.
The best support you can offer a new mum is to create the space for her to simply be with her baby. 🤍

Most people don’t question where their fear around home birth comes from, making misinformed decisions.

They just absorb fear.

And that fear quietly shapes some of the biggest decisions they’ll ever make.

In this episode with my good friend Mariella we go into what the evidence actually says — not opinions, not assumptions, but data.

Including large-scale studies like the Birthplace Study and a 500,000-birth meta-analysis that rarely gets talked about in mainstream conversations.

This is not about convincing you of one choice over another.

It’s about reopening a conversation that has become far too one-sided.

Because when we strip away fear, we’re left with something much more powerful:

informed choice.

This is Part 1 of a 3-part series on home birth. Parts 2 and 3 coming soon.

The weather is hot.

Your toddler is hot.

You're hot.

Your patience is running low.

Try this cooling breath with me. 🌿

Sh*tali and Sitkari are simple breathing techniques that may help you feel calmer and cooler within minutes.

No equipment.
No experience needed.
Just your breath.

Save this for later and send it to a friend who's struggling in the heat. ☀️

✨ Pelvic Pain & Instability Relief Sequence ✨

1️⃣ Sacral stabilisation sequence – begin seated with the soles of the feet together and knees apart.

2️⃣ Gentle rocking – slowly rock forwards and backwards to encourage pelvic mobility and comfort.

3️⃣ Gentle twisting – rotate the upper body side to side, moving slowly and repeating on both sides.

4️⃣ Cat in half-exhale – on hands and knees, gently round the back on the exhale and return to neutral on the inhale.

5️⃣ Chair against the wall – slide down the wall into a supported squat and breathe steadily.

6️⃣ Dog against the wall – place hands on the wall and lengthen through the spine.

7️⃣ Stick pose against the wall – sit tall with legs extended and back supported by the wall.

8️⃣ Hip external and internal rotation – gently explore comfortable hip movement on both sides.

9️⃣ Hip adduction and abduction – controlled side-to-side hip movement within a comfortable range.

💡 For pelvic pain and instability, start with the sacral stabilisation sequence and rocking, then move to twisting. Always repeat both sides before progressing to the next movement.

⚠️ Stop if you experience pain and seek individual support if symptoms persist.

No one really prepares you for how much life changes after birth.

Not in a dramatic, movie-style way.
In a quiet, layered, everyday way that sneaks up on you while you’re trying to figure out feeding, sleep, healing, and who you even are now.

You can love your baby deeply and still feel completely unrecognisable to yourself.

You can be grateful and also overwhelmed by how relentless it all feels.

Both things can exist at the same time, even if no one told you that was allowed.

The truth is, postpartum isn’t just physical recovery. It’s emotional recalibration. It’s your nervous system learning a new rhythm while your body is still healing and your mind is trying to keep up.

And so many people end up thinking they’re doing it “wrong” because it doesn’t look like what they expected.

Nothing is wrong with you for finding it intense.
Or confusing.
Or slower than you thought.

Support matters more than most people realise — not just someone telling you you’re doing fine, but someone who can actually sit with you in it and help you understand what’s happening in your body and mind.

If this resonates, you don’t need to pretend it’s easier than it is.

You can just start from here.

Pregnancy doesn’t need more politeness. It needs honesty.

Stop normalising being dismissed, under-supported and told to “just get on with it”.

You’re not asking for too much: you’re asking the wrong system for enough care.

If this makes you uncomfortable, it should.

What’s inside a doula’s bag?

Not just massage oil, snacks, birth balls and practical tools.

Inside this bag are calm words whispered in moments of doubt. A hand to hold when labour feels overwhelming. A reminder that you are stronger than you realise. Comfort when plans change. Reassurance when emotions run high. And unwavering support, no matter how your birth unfolds.

Every item has a purpose, but the most important thing I bring to a birth can’t fit inside a bag.

My presence. ❤️
