The squash player injured his wrist and is undergoing acupuncture treatment to prepare for the British Open in a week. After half an hour of acupuncture, the previously sensitive and painful areas of the wrist and arm showed an 80% reduction in pain. A consolidation treatment will be done two days later.

In clinical practice, I often see patients who experience hand numbness, tingling, or hand weakness. For these patients, I examine the muscles around the neck and shoulder, especially those surrounding the brachial plexus. When I identify muscles that are stiff, tense, or tender, I use acupuncture needles to release them. The abnormal sensations—such as numbness or weakness—usually improve immediately and significantly. With a few follow‑up treatments, the condition is often completely resolved.

Here is an image as an example: one of the most critical muscles responsible for these symptoms is the subscapularis.

Yesterday, someone messaged me wanting to book a treatment for his foot pain. To remind me of who he was, he wrote in his message: 'A few months ago, you cured my persistent chronic diarrhea and phlegm problem." Ah! I suddenly remembered. This was the retired teacher who suffered from chronic diarrhea for nearly 40 years. He often had several watery stools a day, which greatly troubled him and affected his work, daily life, and travel. He had to wear waterproof trousers. A 14-year-old girl came to see me after more than a year of treatment from her general practitioner. The doctor diagnosed her with growing pains and prescribed painkillers, but they didn’t actually help relieve her symptoms.

Her current symptoms include:

• Pain in major joints
• Sweaty palms
• Cold feet
• Headaches
• Painful menstrual cycles

According to traditional Chinese medicine theory, joint discomfort in adolescents is often not just attributed to musculoskeletal development issues, or what Western medicine commonly calls “growing pains,” but is more due to underlying internal imbalances—like in this girl’s case: there was cold-dampness or damp-heat in the body. These pathological factors are believed to hinder the proper circulation of qi and blood, leading to joint pain or other physical discomforts. During the acupuncture treatment I administered, the pain in various parts of her body was significantly relieved. The girl has received three acupuncture treatments, with noticeable improvement each time, and she is still continuing treatment. Both the girl and her parents are very happy with the results.

A 52 year old lady came to Dani's Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic for treatment for severe menopausal hot flashes. During her consultation and physical examination, Dani discovered that she also suffered from severe constipation, a condition that had plagued her since her teenage years.
