Yesterday’s exercise class was in full swing, just as it always is, with plenty of fun, smiles, and great company alongside Karen and the wonderful Rise & Shine group.

In the spotlight this week is Roger Crowley who gave a wonderful talk about his memories from his days going up and down the canals on his canal boat called blue moon with his late wife Barbara. They were offered the boat at a really good price and he said an offer like that only happens once in a blue moon that’s why they decided to call their boat blue moon.
He had us all laughing as life on a canal boat isn’t all plain sailing.

For World Book Day, our friends from The Railway Children visited us. We spent the afternoon enjoying stories and songs, along with some delicious buns the children had made.

We had a fun evening with Menston Beevers. They brought lots of different games for us to try, some we had seen before and some new ones. Thank you for entertaining us, everyone had a wonderful evening.

In the spotlight this week is our resident Beryl Jackson who delivered a wonderful speech about her travels to Machu Picchu.
It is a renowned 15th-century Inca citadel situated on a mountain ridge 2,430 meters (7,972 feet) above sea level in Peru's Cusco region. Known as the "Lost City of the Incas," it was built for Emperor Pachacuti, featuring advanced, mortar-free dry-stone architecture.
Beryl was the eldest person on the trek and had to quickly learn how to put a tent up and deal with altitude sickness.

Residents celebrated Burns Night with a traditional Scottish supper. Our resident Nan addressed the haggis with the famous Robert Burns poem ‘Adress to a Haggis’ traditionally recited to honour the poet’s birthday on 25th January.
Haggis was washed down with a dram of whiskey while Scottish music played in the background.
Many residents remarked on how lovely the day was.
