🦵🏻Superficial Muscles of the Posterior thigh🦵🏻

Hamstrings!
This muscle group is comprised of three different muscles that play a very important role in all human activities from standing to explosive movements like jumping or sprinting.

Bicep femoris

✅ORIGIN: Ischial Tuberosity and linea aspera of the femur
✅INSERTION: Fibular head
💪🏻ACTION: Knee flexion, hip extension and lateral rotation of the leg

Semitendinosus

✅ORIGIN: Ischial Tuberosity
✅INSERTION: Anteromedial Portion of proximal tibia
💪🏻ACTION: Flexes, externally rotates and abducts hip

Semimembranosus

✅ORIGIN: Ischial Tuberosity
✅INSERTION: Posterior portion of the medial condyle of the tibia
💪🏻ACTION: Flexes knee and extends hip

🦵🏻 hamstring & calf massage - short but effective🦵🏻

After a few weeks of regular training, Kyla had been feeling a lot of tightness within her calfs and hamstrings. Working in the coop, she is on her feet all the time which adds to the stress within the muscles. She came down for a quick massage before work today to release the tension.

Using a range of techniques such as effleurage and petrissage on the gastroc and hamstring muscles (semitendinosus, bicep femoris and semimembranosus) I was able to palpate for any tension, encourage lymphatic drainage and increase circulation within the muscles. I also used some passive soft tissue release techniques to target areas of increased tension within the hamstrings and gastroc.

We also had a little rascal joining us today…single mum life 😂💗

⭐️Gastrocnemius

✅ORIGIN: Posterior condyles of the femur
✅INSERTION: Calcaneus via Achilles tendon
💪🏻ACTION: Plantarflexion of the talocrural joint (ankle) and flexion of the knee joint

⭐️Soleus

✅ORIGIN: Posterior and medial tibia and fibula head
✅INSERTION: Calcaneus via the Achilles tendon
💪🏻ACTION: Plantarflexion of the talocrural joint (ankle)

Lower back massage ✅

Fun fact: I was stopped by a lovely couple the other day on the way home from the shop. They were looking for some help with an injury and said a few people had mentioned my name and where to find me! 😁 I was so chuffed that my name was recommended!
