Let’s talk deep tissue massage….

A very common misconception when people hear “deep tissue” massage is that it simply means more pressure or more pain. In reality, deep tissue massage is about working with the deeper layers of muscle and tissue, using more precise, controlled movements to target specific areas.

More pressure isn’t always better and can actually be counterproductive. If the pressure becomes too painful, the body can naturally respond by tensing and resisting, making it harder to release tension.

By working on specific areas with precision and control, the body is able to relax, allowing the muscles to release more effectively. This approach can make it much easier to work through areas that feel “stuck,” tight, or knotted, without unnecessary discomfort.

I’ll tell you what makes me happy…. Making people feel relaxed and calm. Making people feel like they have a safe supportive space to let go. Taking people’s cares away if only for a moment. Making people feel cared for in a busy world. This space.

I absolutely adore my work to the point where it doesn’t feel like work to me 🫶

After my own breast cancer diagnosis and treatment this year, I’ve experienced first-hand the incredible care, kindness and support from the team at St James.
It’s made me feel that I need to do my bit to give something back.
